If you have over ripe bananas and are tired of banana bread here is another recipe to try.
Banana Brownies
Combine brownie mix with,
2 eggs
2 large ripe bananas, mashed well
1/4 cup water
1 cup chocolate chips
put mixture in a greased 9x9 pan and bake at 350 for 50 min.
I just tried this and they are really good, dense and moist.

Can you really taste the bananas in the brownies?

Yes, it is slight , but there. It mostly affects the texture and moisture. I love chocolate and banana.

Too late. LOL!!! I just made banana bread yesterday.
I also made some homemade peanut butter. It sure is good on the banana bread.
Just ate a piece for lunch.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. Never heard of banana brownies but probably really good just like the chocolate zucchini cake recipe.

A co-worker used to bring these banana bars to potlucks. Thry are almost like a piece of cake:
Bars:
1/4 cup softened butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup mashed bananas
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Cream butter, brown sugar, sugar, sour cream, egg, and vanilla with electric mixer. Mix in bananas. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt to combine. Pour evenly into greased 9x13" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean, 15-20 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes.
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tbsp heavy cream
Melt butter in saucepan (not nonstick). Bring to gentle simmer until milk solids are light brown (You are making 'browned butter'). Off heat, whisk in sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth and creamy. Add another 1/2 tbsp cream if needed to make spreadable. Spread on warm bars. Cool bars to room temperature before serving.

I was hoping that the bananas completely disappeared into the batter without adding any flavor. I'm not a fan of bananas and really don't care for any kind of fruit with chocolate. We ended up with a lot of bananas, however, because I bought some for my mother (who lives with us) and my husband also bought some for her so we have a lot of them. One thing that helps is to wrap aluminum foil around the stems of the bunch. That really slows down the ripening process. Still, I see banana bread in our future. At least Mom and the hubby will enjoy it.

I can see where the bananas would be very complementary to the brownie mix and, as you noted, add texture--and a pleasing density or chewiness.
Years ago, I saw a recipe for refrigerator "ice cream" using--you guessed it--mashed bananas as a sweetener and thickening agent.
Thanks for the post!

I use them in breakfast cookies---lots of recipes online and of course throw them in my smoothies too. I freeze them if I have alot of over ripe ones---the brownies sound fabulous!!!
