We could not find Butterball turkey breasts around here.
We ended up buying about a 12 lb organic whole turkey. It was really good. Also bought an organic chicken that was really good.

I can't recall the last time I purchased a frozen turkey, so I just hope Butterball isn't going bad as it always seemed to be a popular brand.
I like to get the fresh products from my grocery store. Raley's, a West Coast chain, has outstanding quality in its fresh turkey products so I stick with that at this point. When I was able to do a whole turkey, I would order ahead with them. You tell them about what size you want and that's what you get. I did a turkey breast this year and ordered it in the same manner.
I love turkey, so it would be really upsetting if I went to all the trouble to make a great meal and it wasn't up to par.
I'm sorry to those who have had to deal with that.

Our Butterball was fine - it's the brand I prefer.

I ALWAYS buy fresh organic turkey. NOT a fan of frozen ones.

We did a 6 pound butterball Turkey breast in the air fryer using Meredith Lawrence's recipe and I liked it better then the whole bird and enough for leftovers and soup I made.

I have cooked turkeys from 10 pounds up using a bag, heat at 325 for the listed time and never had dry meat.

@Flatbush When I cooked Butterball it had the pop up that would pop up when ready. I would place in oven salt &pepper bird and dot with butter and COVER. The last hour I would UNCOVER and the bird always turned out perfect. I always preferred small turkeys.

The thing with turkeys of any brand is they're all individual animals. You may get a turkey who was very lazy and just laid about and ate, who's very tender, juicy, and flavorful. Another turkey hatched and raised in the same farm may have been hyperactive and always up and running and never resting who had no fat and was tough as all get out because of the constant activity. Both turkeys could have been the same variety, raised in the same farm, but their individual natures made one delicious and one nearly inedible.

That stinks - we had an 18 lb Butterball that we defrosted and cooked per directions and it was excellent. Turkey can be tricky!

we had a 24 pound butterball that defrosted between sunday morning and thursday morning. it was DELICIOUS! they are our preferred brand. it was so juicy and created plenty of juices for basting, for the gravy, and for the dressing.
i can honestly say i have never seen an 8 pound whole turkey before?
