I recently made the mistake of following Martha Stewart Living on Pinterest. This could prove dangerous, I have to try this one.
Here's the link to the recipe page.
In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Using an electric mixer or a pastry cutter, cut in butter until the mixture forms pea-size pieces. Press 2/3 of the mixture onto bottom and 1 inch up the side of a 9-inch springform pan.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel apples, cut into thin slices, and place in a bowl. Pour off any accumulated liquid. Toss apple slices with remaining teaspoon cinnamon and lemon juice, and put them in the prepared pan, pressing down gently as you pack them in (they will mound above the edge of the pan). Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
Put the pan on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet, and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Run a knife around the edge of the pan, and let the cake cool in the pan to set. Serve at room temperature.

HC, this looks delicious! Some friends gave us loads of apples and I think this will be my next use for them. Thanks for sharing! Let us know how you like it if you try it.

Omg, that cake contains all of my favorite things. I'm a goner! I rarely pursue those Pintrest recipes as its like a competition to see who can pack the most calories in a cookie, cake or pie. They overdo it. That makes them expensive to make too.

Oh my GOODNESS! That looks DELICIOUS! I've been itching to make some pies but that looks to good to pass up! Apple picking here I come!

thanks so much for posting this house_cat. This reminds me of the coffee cakes my grandmother always made. She would make a great coffee cake than poke sliced apples down into the batter before putting it in the oven, so good so will try this one, thanks again.
