I do have problems reading the long posts with no paragraph breaks, not enough "white space" to make reading easier.  But I admit, I'm guilty of too-long posts.  I try to pare them down, but so far I haven't been very effective in that -- and I'll try to do better.

When I see a lot of replies to an "advice" thread, I read several posts and then check to see if the OP responds.  If there is no response I don't  read that thread anymore.

I do find it annoying.

Bumping a thread is when the OP replies, but I reply to many QVC cyber pals who replied to me on my thread, because I was brought up with good manners, respect, good etiquette, and many times a reply is warranted when someone replies to you.

Some may consider this bumping up a thread, I consider it as having respect, common courtesy, good etiquette, and well taught good manners since I am from the old school where all these things mattered, and that was the way I was brought up.

@3cupcakes, I just found your question to me, but have also seen it answered already.  Thank you to those who did.

@adoreqvc, there is no doubt, and no implication otherwise, that you were indeed raised well.  Many of us can make the same claim.

If I answer a question, I neither need nor expect acknowledgement, and I suspect my take on the subject is a little different than others here. Whenever I see an OP posting individually to responders, it seems to me the OP is "bumping" their thread.  To me, it should be enough to thank responders en masse after the thread has run its course.

totally agree with your statement!  IMO, the OP that answers back to every individual is just "bumping" their posts back to the top....coming back to thank responders all at once is being respectful to everyone that posted!

It used to bother me, but I had to just stop letting it.  I am ignored a lot, as I'm not in any group or not a chit-stirrer.  That's fine.  But one just needs to not let it get to them.  Bigger fish to fry, eh?  Smiley Happy

@chickenbutt - I don't think there are any groups anymore like there used to be before the format change.  There might be a few ladies that are "friends" but that doesn't mean others can't join the conversation.  On the old boards I was really ignored and the regular posters only responded to each other.  However, I think some of the chit-stirrers are still around.  You can tell by the way they try to take a post and turn it negative, but the moderators take care of them.

I enjoy reading your posts along with everyone else's.  Keep on posting.

Re: Anyone else tired of posting replies and the person never returns to read them, but posts on QVC

I never would have thought that someone who posts replies to everyone who wrote a post to them is trying to bump up a thread.

Many aren't even aware of what that is.

That to me seems to be attributing something to someone who is considerate that just isn't there.

It always reminds me that not everyone's perspective is the same.

Like when some people think someone is being nice for alterior motives. It makes me think that people who think this way, may do this themselves or are very untrusting.

Or someone who often accuses people of lying-I can't help but think they lie themselves or have been exposed to many who lie.

Especially when growing up, I wasn't exposed to or aware of people who were lying -it just wasn't even in our vocabulary.

Anyway, just thoughts from this thread.

I guess I think its nice when someone replies and I always admire someone who does and appreciate it.

Otherwsie we might as well be posting into the wild blue yonder or the twilight zone.

Kind of like facebook is sometimes. Who is everyone showing things to-post after video afer video, not their own but everything they see- maybe never expecting a reply or if there is, never replying in kind and rarely responding to anyone elses.

Weird. Maybe it is a generational thing.

We always had relationships that were face to face and I guess thats how I at least still maybe naively expect of technical media or whatever its all called.

@dooBdoo Thank you for explaining the bumping.  I had been kind of floating around before posting, but read all the helpful hints that you & others are so nice to post.

but @chickenbutt, I had not yet seen the thread pimping!  What a good laugh!

Oh no, @dooBdoo! I enjoy reading your very knowledgeble posts. Smiley Happy

I'm one who can write long posts, as I can sometimes leave info. out if I'm not careful, so I try to write in a way that makes sense to others.

If the OP of a given thread keeps bumping up their own threads it's also known as 'threadpimping'.   (Hey, I didn't make that up!)  hehe  Smiley Happy

I have never even heard of this, and I would never think that someone who is taking time out to answer people who have posted on a thread that they started is guilty of "bumping up their own thread."

@My comments aren't directed at you personally, @chickenbutt. I'm just commenting about some of these internet etiquette rules that people come up with, or whatever you want to call them. Smiley Happy

I just don't know where people come up with some of these negative ideas, and where they have to seemingly be applied in a nefarious way to someone's internet posts.
