In my grocery store, the shredded, not frozen potatoes are near the eggs, butter and canned biscuits.

They are usually found in the refrigerated case. You know where the pie crusts and crescent rolls are found. Not in the freezer case. They also freeze well.

How about asking your friend for the real thing recipe. When I read a "drop of milk," that just got me wondering. I've don't think I've ever used just a drop of milk in anything.
