Re: Antonella's Summer Sauce

@Eva-QVC - Thank you for posting this! I didn't know about Antonella's show or blog, but I will be checking on it now. The sauce looks delicious, and I will be making the pickles next week when my son comes home from college - he LOVES fried pickles of any kind, but he's the only one in the family who does! These look like they would be more to our liking! Smiley Wink

Is there anywhere on QVC's site I can find the schedule for Antonella's shows?

Smiley HappyWow -- that looks really good!  Down here in Texas, I'm always looking for a way to keep from heating up the kitchen too much.  Can't wait to try this!

Re: Antonella's Summer Sauce

I love Antonella! Her summer sauce looks really good! I wonder if you could do it without the half of stick of butter though and it still taste good? Guess I will have to give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained....and maybe save some fat grams and calories in the process!

I make a similar sauce with homegrown San Marzano or Heirloom tomatoes. I add capers and fresh oregano. I don't use butter. I use a small amount extra virgin olive oil instead.

Re: Antonella's Summer Sauce

My mom was Sicilian and this was a staple during the summers in Chicago.  We called it "Quick Sauce".

She made it with the home grown tomatoes, garlic, a pinch of crushed red pepper and the basil from our garden.

However, she didn't use butter just olive oil.

I still make it but I don't have a garden.

You can eat it hot or cold.
