Had a sheet of puff pastry that had been hanging out too long in the freezer.  Made this fun dessert with it.

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 T dry bread crumbs
3 medium apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced crosswise

1-1/2 T unsalted butter

1/4 cup sugar

1/8 t salt

light sprinkle of cinnamon

1 cup grated extra-sharp white cheddar (about 4 oz)

Pre-heat oven to 400F.

Roll pastry sheet to 15 x 12 inch rectangle.  Transfer to parchment paper lined baking sheet.  ****** all over with a fork and sprinkle bread crumbs over pastry.

Put apples in bowl.  Heat butter in a small sauce pan until golden brown.  Pour over apples.  Add sugar, salt and cinnamon and toss to coat.  Spread apples evenly over pastry leaving a 1 inch border on all side.  Fold edges over apples pressing firmly on folds.  Bake until apples are tender (35 to 40 min).  Sprinkle cheese over apples and bake until bubbling (5-9 minutes).  Serve warm.

I used Golden Delicious apples because that is what I had on hand.

PS: Rather than the word that would not print use the work poke.
