ANYONE MAKE FREEZE POPS?

[ Edited ]

I was sorting through some kitchen stuff and came across a very nice Oxo freeze pop set .... to make homemade popsicles with.

I recall I only used it once, and got 6 giant rock hard, fruit-flavored ice cubes.

Clearly, I did something wrong. lol  Woman LOL

So ......  anyyone have any tips of techniques to share?  I thought I tried them once more before donating it.

Did you use real sugar?  I know with the Zoku Slush maker it says you need real sugar vs sugar substitute or it'll freeze too hard.

@Tinkrbl44   I know I've made them but it's been awhile. I can't remember the proportions but I puréed strawberries then added some yogurt with a little honey to sweeten and a pinch of salt. They were pretty refreshing.

Re: ANYONE MAKE FREEZE POPS?

I make them from:

1 1/2 cups (8 oz) raspberries

1/2 cup water

2 tbsp honey

Pinch of salt

Puree everything in food processor until smooth.

15 oz. Canned Coconut Milk

3 cups. Strawberries - trimmed, diced, and mashed a bit

Mix together, sweeten to taste.

Divide into ice cream bar molds and add popsicle sticks

This could work with other berries too, but the seeds in raspberries and blackberries could be an issue for some people.

Re: ANYONE MAKE FREEZE POPS?

I actually saw  a recipe for watermelon popsicles that looked good and I ordered a popsicle set that's dishwasher safe and comes with reusable sticks. Maybe reading this will give me the push to make some.
