A question about making Red Velvet Cake with a Chocolate cake mix

I found a recipe fron Cake Mix Doctor using cake mix, but it calls for German Choc cake mix. I would rather use the chocolate mix. I am looking around online, but do not have an answer. Here's my question...

How much red food coloring do I add to make it look red?

If anyone has a Red Velvet recipe that calls for cake mix, please share!! Thanks!
