Re: remembering QVC hosts from the past

Mike Rowe has joked that QVC host was the real 'Dirty Job'.  Some of his Q shows are still on Youtube...he's very funny

I have watched QVC since day 1 and I cannot for the life of me remember Mike Rowe.

Re: remembering QVC hosts from the past

@lovesallanimals, same here! I don’t know how on earth I missed his tenure at the Q. I remember almost everyone and watched at all hours over the years. I really enjoy the clips on YouTube, but I wish I remembered him first-hand. Shopping host was not the job for Mike! His Dirty Jobs show is interesting, his foundation established to encourage entry into the trades vs. a college education for everyone, and - last but not least - his professionally trained operatic voice is gorgeous!

Re: remembering QVC hosts from the past

@catwoman48 @lovesallanimals  I think he was only a host for a short period of time - maybe a year but not sure. He was on the overnight shift a lot and was very irreverent. I think he knew that there was a very small audience at that time so he let loose. I also think he knew that this was not the career for him.

He's had a great career since. I've heard him talk about his foundation focused on training kids for the trades. Very impressive!

Re: remembering QVC hosts from the past

@Lisa now in AZ    OMG, you perfectly said what my family had said as well. I come from 100% Italian family and we all said that Antonella "went off the rails" and a lil cray cray once she went blonde. Yeah, her natural dark hair was so fitting and then when she went bleach it was like, WHAT THE HECK!! Yeah, she didn't last much longer at Q after that. I believe corporate saw exactly what we did!

Such a shame and I was hoping it was a wig, but you are right that its her natural hair. I wish someone could shake her and convicne her to STOP the bleaching. It most def can be one of the factors effecting her health. Hair dyes/bleach have countless tudies behind them for the toxic effects, if color isn't organic or henna. It's mind boggling how she views this blonde look and evidently must LOVE It.

I remember Mike did a lot of overnight shows and always looked like he'd rather be somewhere else. He did go on to do pretty well for himself though.

Mike Rowe was the best.  If QVC wants to entertain, it needs to look no further than its past.  "Mike vs. Doll" on YouTube is hilarious.  You can even hear the crew laughing as Mike comments about "Merry."
