The reason I have stuck with QVC over the years and have purchased many of the items I have was because they had one thing that others didn't--including shopping in person--details of the items.  How it works, any maintenance necessary, measurements, even color and size descriptions.  Looking at a video online can be deceptive when it comes to color for instance, but having a host say the red is a blue red in person, not what it's coming across on air is very helpful.

 

I don't mind some chatting, it makes the presentations pleasant.  But when the silliness and chit chat overshadows the product, that's what turns me off.  There are still a few brands here that I like and purchase, but when I'm interested in something I'm not already familiar with I often wait for a host I know has a tendency to describe the product in more detail before purchasing (or not).

 

There are many products and hosts I'm not interested in so I don't watch them at all.  But I do have to say, all of my impulse purchases are from watching the Q on tv.  So if I'm avoiding a host, I'm not buying.

@anxious1   Join my club. I stopped watching years ago...except recording a few jewelery and beauty shows that I can FF quickly and purchase items elsewere.

I will say I watched Rosina with Jerry from Laura Mercier and it was a very pleasant show. He was remote, so that is always a little tricky, but she always gave him space to answer, knowing there is that slight delay with virtual calls. A couple times it was a little empty air (not a criticism!) because she waited for him. It is fine to have a couple seconds to allow someone to speak virtually or in person. She would ask a question, and await an answer. Melissa Goff, Steve, John,  Lisa, Rachel E., Vanessa, Sam (where is she?) and Chelsea (when she is hosting solo) are all pretty good at the pause and wait.

Then you and others need to shop in a store. Yes lots of ridiculous chatter, for the most part hosts do give clothing details, food vendors routinely give cooking information, the same for cleaning products etc. Detailed info is listed in product description.

Since the company has been in a downward spiral over the past few years, and in my opinion the behavior of many host have been riding that downward sliding board, I think behavior modification could only improve many viewer's experiences and possibly the company's bottom line.

 

No one should have to check online for basic information, especially considering how long they drone on over one item.

I agree with you.  The hosts have a lot of time in presenting a product.  They should be able to describe measurements and the cleaning care of a garment.  There have been many times that I wanted to purchase an item but didn't because of the lack of this information.  I don't need to be told where I can wear an outfit or that I can dress it up or down.  As they say on the show "Dragnet" just the facts ma'am.

I always wonder the reason for behavior.  In the far past, hosts weren't so seemingly "frantic" as they are now.  They seemed calmer in their presentations. I wonder if the producers and directors are encouraging these newer selling tactics as they watch the sales in real time.

But I can't think of many online retailers that give you videos or live presentations at all for clothing. Maybe twirling in it, but no audio information.

 

You have no CS to ask, there are no 'live' people!  LOL

 

You are limited to what IS online!  Speaking of Amz as well as tons of other online retailers.

Past shopping at Coldwater Creek didn't even give you the garment ON a person, just a hanger.  Yet many of us shopped there.

 

The majority of us who shop elsewhere Are relying soley on the info Online.

 

So whatever I can glean from the online babble in the videos is more than I may get elsewhere.

 

(I shop online only....and will watch the videos of the on air presentation.)
