It's "free". But lots of forums are "free". facebook is "free".

But what we do for QVC in return is provide them with user and customer contact e-mail addresses. We promote their site and their products. We tell others we know to jump on over to QVC to join a discussion or see a recipe.

The price on that is far more than whatever they could charge anyone monthly to be here.

And with the state of the newly revamped forums, that would be an even harder sell today.

Not all things are paid in money directly. Your user info is converted into money by big corporations culling lots of people to their "free" forums, come-ons, trial offers, special super-duper coupon codes.

Its all marketing. They're all tools of marketing a product - for profit. "Free" is never "FREE" when you're talking a party only interested in it or offering it as a means to a monetary end.

Not that I blame or fault QVC. Its a big for-profit retail corporation. They perhaps aren't meant to do anything out the pure goodness of their heart. lol Its all about ways to make money which means they needs ways to attract customers (and attract them directly to their site as QVC does with its forums).

QVC is company for profit...To say

Really... No one on this forum is that important...Money will come in and out QVC with or without you...That is and always will be business...

For all the trouble that the forum are to QVC with interpersonal disputes and trashing the hosts/vendors..... the forums DO promote interest in varied items.  Take Judity Ripka.  There is intense interest in this Designer and ladies here who depend on information about the newest or TSV and then goes and BUYS!

The same with Dooney & Bourke, GILI, IT Cosmetics and on and on....

These forums generate interest in the products and they help sell the items!

Yes, QVC does need the forums IMHO, but doing what they've done here is a mess that will require some cleaning up.... or many buyers/posters will just give up and leave.

I don't like the fact that Viewpoints and Gamers are lumped together in Community Chat. What happened to the sub-forums? I think one of the reasons the Q has the forums is because we promote a lot of their products, ie, Beauty, Fashion forums. However, Viewpoints and Gamers didn't. It WAS a luxury to have those forums. It was fun. Maybe they don't care if we like to have "fun".

Q4U, I agree the forums do promote interest in their products.  Also the posters on the forum offer advise on sizing of fashions or shoes or even the size of a Judith Ripka bracelet.  This helps decrease the number of returns which is good for us as well as QVC.

And since I do not watch QVC channel live that much,  it helps me become aware of products I may not see except for a mention made on the forum.  So this forum helps generate sales in many ways.

Unfortunately the forum does not work on my default browser.  It does work on the google chrome. But the forum shows up the size of a letter size page and it is center on my large monitor  thus the font size is smaller and harder to read.

Relax people. You'll get used to it.

I am of the mind that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but since it's already "fixed" (and who knows what QVC's reasons were? Certainly not I.), I can live with it. A few tweaks on the "edit my preferences" link, and it's not that different, in my opinion. I don't understand why everyone is so resistant to change. It's part of life and it keeps the mind nimble...right? Woman Tongue

But I think it was broken. Some posters weren't even civil. Some used it to attack every single vendor and host. Something needed to be done to get it under control. It was absolutely broken. If posters would take some time to read the directions and make the changes on their settings they would be happier with the result.

9244, about being civil, in one of the post titles, a response was deleted by Q monitors, about being inappropriate, attacking another poster. I had also replied to the poster whose post was removed, about someone overreacting about the board changes. They removed my post too, but didn't say it was inappropriate. I was nice in my post. the other poster's name stayed, with a Q comment about being inappropriate. Quite frankly, I didn't think her comment was bad. So a word to the wise, be careful what you post. They are taking this very seriously.
