Can anyone explain the term
SHAWN SAVES CHRISTMAS ?
I donot understand what it means.

I think as outsiders looking into a fishbowl, which as viewers we all do, it is easy to observe and make assumptions about what we "think" we are seeing. Posters noted a number of hosts have had social media sidekicks, and some us find it an irrelevant role while others state the viewers like to engage to have a facade of a "relationship" with the host. Killinger is a very strong personality and even with Kourtney K, a seasoned host in her own right, she would roll right over her with babble like she does even when she asks Steve to participate. She did not need Vanessa or Elise or Antonella on her shows but someone placed them there for reasons unknown to the viewer.
Others could be in that sidekick role as a mentee because observing is as important as actually doing (my own opinion.) I will say that to me, Steve is stronger than Monifa, and has co-hosted a regular show with Vanessa on Q2 for the holidays, and IMO their team seems to be working as they now have another show together starting soon. But there are other viewers who do not like Steve, I don't think it is about the viewer (Us) it is about senior leadership making the decisions senior leaders do, based on what works for profit and bottom line.

Well, the one thing that comes to mind after reading these posts is that Monifa needs more social media training ... OR she happens to be very good at it, and JC requested her for the show.
I've never understood why anyone would be on social media while watching a TV presentation, but I'm not a fan of social media ... which is obviously why I have no idea why anyone does this.

The optics are NOT good. Monifa is an experienced host now and she's quite good. Marooning her in corner to do Facebook chats is strange. Why can't she cohost with Jen?

It makes Monifa look like she's being made to watch a seasoned host, to learn! Honestly, I hate to see this, and wonder why Monifa agrees to it every week. She's perfectly capable of hosting her own show, not just listen to Ms Coffey rambling on and on! ,
I've watched a couple of Monifa's shows and she definitely needs additional training.( she was loud, kept interrupting the vendor, and a bit rude too)..and JC is definitely NOT the person that should be training her....Someone like Leah, Pat, Jayne Brown, or Terri would be a much better mentor for Monifa.....I think these Facebook/Social Media hosts are hosts that need more training. Vanessa that came to QVC around the same time as Monifa is heads above her and even hosting her own special shows--- ones fashion, the other is cooking .....Vanessa is professional, does her product homework is knowledge and a pleasure to watch

@chrystaltree If I wanted to contact Monifa while she's supposedly running social media, I would have no idea how to do it nor is it ever mentioned or suggested. She doesn't appear to be doing anything and Jennifer acts mad about her being there.
I think all the past pairings of hosts were for different purposes. Almost everyone at one time has had to serve a sentence with Shawn and it wasn't for training. Even Leah, who sure doesn't need training, had to sit with Shawn. It seems to be a rite of passage, or maybe they're trying to find somebody with whom she's compatible

My interpretation is that if you cannot think what you need to purchase for loved ones for Christmas. Shawn is available to help you with gift ideas.
Regardless of what anyone thinks, the show must be popular because it's been on for a few years now around the holidays.
I don't watch MD that often because she manages to sound continuously surprised by the products and It annoys me. I have a good GF that cracks me up, because she refuses to watch her. She calls her "The Murderer of the Kings English". She will send me a text with screaming emojis, why is she on. LOL

I get that vibe from Jennifer too.

Several people think being on the social media thing is punishment? Certainly you must realize that the amount of time since being hired is no indicator of how well they are doing.
I'd be willing to bet that all the host newbies have their shows watched and critiqued by not only production executives, but experienced hosts, as well .... talk about scary evaluations!
OR ... perhaps Monifa is really good at social media and that's the skill they want her to make even stronger?
Who knows what TPTB are thinking? Several of their decisions don't make sense to me.

I think many of the hosts who are managing livestream sessions while others hosts are presenting items in a show are among the less polished and less engaging people on the Q. But that said, if the main host isn't even going to interact with the social media host, why have both hosts on camera? I think that's what makes it awkward—if there were simply an announcement at the beginning of a show that some host was going to be available in the livestream while another host presented on air, that would be efficient and effective. QVC could even use one of its dozen pop-up graphics to note this for the audience during the show.
But since that idea is totally practical and logical, I'm guessing the real reason is that there's some contractual obligation for hosts to be on air for a specific number of hours per week, and that the newer hosts who are relegated to the social host position in the background are getting some of their hours clocked in that way instead of by hosting their own independent shows.
Whatever the reason, as everyone has noted, it's often strange and offputting.
