Why are website and tv so different?

On the website theres dozens and dozens of brands to choose from. But on tv they only showcase housebrands. Why is this? Is it a price thing? Surely outside brands would do just as good or better if shown on tv. Everyone complains that its the same 5 fashion and beauty brands rotated day after day. With very few styles and selections. LIke denim&company gets a TSV every week along with their pajama brands. Or if you want a bra, on tv they only offer breezies. But on the website they offer many others like evelyn&bobbie. Outside vendors have more variety when it comes styles and sizes. I bet qvc would be in a better position financially if they would get out of their housebrand bubble and offer more choices. I don't know why they are so against showcasing them. Or do you think that tv is for the 50 plus crowd only, thats why its all pajamas. And the website is for younger demo? In any case the website is my way of shopping now. I can't stand all the housebrands on tv along with the host banter comedy hours. tv hardly showcases petites either. Do you think when they change over to streaming it will be any different? Or possibly do collabs with hsn when they share the building next year? On the other hand they could double down on their studio park line but with many hosts leaving its hard to say. They could also just cater to more celebs as thats been their trend lately.  Anyone else switch to online only for more variety?

Perhaps the brands that are only online and not on television chose that option?  I imagine they have to pay a good amount to appear on TV.

It may be because the brands online can't or won't produce the large quantities needed for broadcast & especially TSV items.  Sometimes they sell 40,000 - 70,000 of a TSV. A lot to produce.

Different kinds0 of contracts to sell the merchandise, just like Walmart also has.

First of all, I think most QVC shoppers check the website as frequently or more frequently than they watch tv.  Second of all, streaming will not likely change any of this.

The margins on the QVC vertical brands are much higher than brands they have on their website like Nic & Zoe.  They may show a piece or two randomly, but that's just to show variety and not what their business model consists of.

Also, the brands that are available at many other places run their own promos frequently and mark down systematically.   That doesn't follow the QVC model either.

I agree with you on this.

I have often wondered why they don't show some of their other great brands on-air.  The replies you received are interesting and I didn't think of it in that way.

However, if QVC is truly struggling, they should consider finding a way to showcase some of their other brands. Customers are always interested in seeing something new and different. It could definitely drive up sales if they offer these things at reasonable prices.

When Vanessa's show started, she used to show unique brands, just like Katrina Szish  did on her show when she was on there.
