QVC will NEVER reach a younger audience.  These young people are not interested in QVC and they also can't afford their prices.  IMO Home Shopping Days are numbered.  I have been going all over and many many are not going to order anymore.  Wait till next quarter.  You will see.

It is not me because there are things here I enjoy that I can't get anywhere else.  I am speaking for all the Blogs I am reading.

Young people are not going to sit and watch QVC.

Something else I noticed with myself, If I am looking for something, I don't look here.  I buy when I am watching and there are so few Hosts and Vendors I can watch.

Times have changed Folks and I believe this is the beginning of the end.  Wait until the next quarter.

The Higher Ups need to realize that people even young ones don't want to hear a Host babbling about their Family. They are not going to sit through it.  This is why they are losing sales. IMO

I think you hit the nail on the head. Younger people are not going to pick up the slack from the millions of people who have cut QVC out of their lives. As far as hosts babbling...how many times must we hear about this family member, that family member. It's like a broken record. I don't need to know someone's complete family history...I'm just trying to purchase something on a shopping channel.

I asked my greatgrandaughters, both in their mid-30's if they ever watched QVC.  They laughed and said only when I have it on and they happened to be passing by the tv.  They laugh at the fashions and have no interest in kitchen items or the types of beauty products on Q, etc.  They wondered why I have it on closed caption much of the time.  I turn  the audio back on and then they wonder no more.

@BalletBabe    They seem to be back peddling.  According to the new 3 year plan, which you can read online, they now want to be the fashion source for the "over fifty" woman.  I assume that ridiculous new over 50 show with Mally is the first feeble, bungling attempt but maybe they'll get better.

Maybe it has occurred to someone that each year they acquire a new batch of women over 50, and will forever....or as long as they last, from existing customers.

I disagree. I know plenty 40ish year olds who buy from QVC and watch. No, a 20 year old doesn't watch but as they get older they tend to have different lifestyles. I think people, for some reason, do not admit to watching a shopping channel.

I watched David V's show last night (the home show at 10PM) and I tried to picture myself as a young person tuning in...

In my opinon,David looks bored a lot...especially when some remote host is babbling on and he doesn't realize the camera is back on him...In some cases, to me he looks downright "mean"...then he immediately regains his "show face".....

I actually look for these moments now. It's become an obsession ( to use one of QVC's favorite terms!!!!)

Anyway....I could not get a feel for someone wanting to watch about some of the things they show....it's the kind of stuff you'd walk past in Walmart...IF you even went down that aisle to begin with. I watch cause I'm used to it and trying to get to sleep.....

I'll be a little  blue the day I turn on Channel 317 ( Direct TV here in PA)  and it's blank.

Not cause I wanted to buy, but it's STILL better than the other nonstop garbage on TV. they can't talk about politics or horrible hurtful things or bash people. For that I'm grateful.

But that's not what QVC needs. They need me to BUY.

But I'll get over it.

@Kachina624 You said it perfectly. There is a new batch of 50 year old customers every year. I personally think their demographic is older than 50. I believe their loyal shoppers are 60+, home alone a lot of the time, and/or perhaps more or less housebound. All 3 of those described me until age 70. When my husband retired he was there, but he started watching, too. Every day he asks what the forum is discussing.

@Othereeeen  I thought the same thing about David V.  I rarely watch him because I am not interested in what he sells but for some reason I was changing the channel and caught him a few times this week. He either looked very bored or angry. Did not come across as a pleasant person to be with. Maybe he needs a good meal ( I'm not joking).

But the problem is @BalletBabe

those of us in the age bracket you refer to are all saying we are NOT buying!

Whether it be the recession or retirement, or prior over buying...the threads are constant.

We are backing off of our buying so much 'stuff'...our life styles have changed.

So what ARE they suppose to do if bringing in younger, NEW customers is not the way to go?
