What does your registration date refer to?

I just noticed my registration date is 3/10/10.  What does that mean?  I know its not my original date and its not when the board changed to this format.  I notice some others have this date, too.

@depglass - It's the date the webmaster(s) assigned to your ID when they brought in the new format.  Don't ask me how they decided!

At the same time, they also dropped thousands (in my case) of previous posts and dropped the count.  Some people complained.  The only thing that it affected, that I could see, was where you were rated ("trusted", "respected", "valued"...whatever).

I don't think anyone got a straight answer to why they did this.  And some posters seem to have retained the true count of their posts.  Just another one of those things, so the registration dates around 2010 don't mean anything other than you registered prior to all these changes.

It's the date you joined the board.  If you joined prior to 2010, your date was adjusted to 3/2010 when the new board was relaunched.

Spoiler

There was no board launch in 2010.  The one prior to last June, was done in 2004.  The dates people were given in the last change are arbitrary.

If you've been here a while, the registration date is wrong.

I've been on the forums since the 90s, but now it appears I've only been posting a short while. (A few months ago, I had over 8000 posts.)

(I used to be insomniac, but even that was taken from me.)

I know not everyone was posting at that time, so you didn't see the notices,  but in the weeks before the launch of the new platform there were several announcements "pinned" to the top of most of the forum pages.   They did mention the migration to the new forum would cause many post counts to change, old posts to be lost, and registration dates modified.   My registration is accurate since I haven't been posting here as long as many have, but I've noticed (as others said) that many of the older sign-up dates were changed to a March 2010 date.   Unfortunately, the Q Social Team stated that none of the older info would be available.

Re: What does your registration date refer to?

The registration date is some random number that was picked when the boards were migrated to a new platform last summer. A lot of people including me were here a lot earlier than that, I've been here since 2007. Also the post count is inaccurate too.

Through many board maintenance procedures over the years, they've also "lost" posts, likely because they've purged old threads.

But when these boards were moved to a new Lithium platform, there wasn't adequate QA testing and they also managed to lose a lot of posts from the first half of 2015 from March through June.
