I may be wrong, but reading some of the comments here seems to imply that some of you watch TV ( mainly QVC) all day long. How do you get anything done???? Doesn't your behind hurt from sitting all day?  LOL

You ladies crack me up.Smiley LOL

I am 72 years old. I thinnk I am old enough and I do enjoy watching my favorite programs at night.  But some of the comments sound like they watch QVC (especially) 24/7.   I just wonder how they get things done, do they have a full time maid and a chef? I am not being sarcastic, I am being serious! How do they do it????? Because of my back I can't sit that long either.   I realize there may be ladies here who are confined to wheel chairs, etc and must stay seated or lie down, but I do not think that is the case for all.

While not really anyone's business, I would think that most who do that keep it on while they are doing stuff.  We keep tv (not QVC though) on most of the day and get things done.  Most are capable of doing that.

I consider from your post that you are one of the very lucky 72 yr olds who can physcially do MANY of your household chores at your age even with a back issue.....

but there are so many others who thank goodness for TV

to help them get through the day...................I don't necessarily agree that customers actually WATCH QVC all day...........i am sure MOST leave a TV on in the background (whether on QVC or some other program) just like many will listen to music or the news, etc.

To assume that many are taking life "easy" and not getting things done is too judgmental in my opinion.

Trade bodies with me and then you'll see.  But I don't watch or get on here all day.

Multi-tasking.  I'm almost OP's age, rarely watch Q, but I have the tv on when I'm indoors.  You'd be amazed what can be done with the tv on.

In the last week....

  • Spent 47 hours cleaning up debris in my yard after the derecho storm went through Iowa.
  • Spent 4 hours cleaning up debris in my disabled neighbor's yard.
  • Spent 6 hours raking my back yard.
  • Found my deck furniture a block away and brought it home.
  • Took pictures of massive tree damage for insurance.
  • Took pictures and threw out all the food that went bad in refrigerator and deep freeze since we were without power for 4 days.
  • Replaced 3 shingles on the roof
  • 6 loads of laundry
  • Cleaned the bathroom and bedrooms

I'm looking forward to a lazy day with tv.

Many people leave their television on all day. It's company. Especially QVC. If you hear something is being presented that interests you, you can sit and watch. You don't have to be glued to the tv for QVC. If find it very easy to do things around the house with the tv on.

Re: Watching TV

[ Edited ]

For me, TV is more listening than watching.  It's rare I ever sat down to watch any program giving it my full attention.    I'm always doing something else.  As I type this post, I'm listening to a program on "Investigation Discovery" at the same time.

For me, household chores are so mindless, I need something more stimulating to occupy my thoughts. Also, TV brings life into the house that can be dreadfully quiet without it.

Can't remember when we didn't have TV on in the background, but it definitely wasn't always QVC.  During the past year, it hasn't been on much at all.
