Last night I received an email from my bank that a credit card had been used that has been inactive for a couple of years.  I checked my bank as it gives me Experian information and any changes on my credit.  There was a $620 amount due on a credit card that I never use but keep because I've had it for decades. (I only use one card and pay it off every month so I knew there was a problem).  I called the card's bank and found out the purchase was from the UK and what I "bought" was the address of a phony website address.  The bank listed it as fraud, cancelled the card and is issuing a new one with a different number.  I am so glad that the original bank alerted me.  And this is why I'm posting.

You might want to check your credit periodically...I have never had anything like this happen.  I would never have known this charge existed and the perpetrator could have run rampant with my card.

I just got a post card, from US Dept of Health and Human Services, saying to fill out a patiant survey.  Looks legit, until you see an 888 phone number.  They want you to call back, so they can get your info.  Be careful, they're getting smarter every passing day!

@meallen616  Not to worry!  I have a dear friend who I talk to every day.  I have taken to greeting her by text each day saying "Good Morning, Happy .....day!"  Whatever the day might be!  She just can't seem to keep them straight and has sometimes missed appointments!  And she's younger than I am!!!!!  I think some of us just have a lot on our minds these days!  And when youi're retired, it's sometimes even harder to keep track.  I rely on my cell phone!

@meallen616

No apologies necessary, I have to look on my laptop when I turn it on in the AM, to see what day/date it is.

That became less important to us once we retired. If I didn't have a large erase board for our appointments, we'd miss them all, LOL!
