I don't watch, I shop online and when I'm contimplating buying I watch the video to get more information. Also, I'll usually check elsewhere to see if the buy is better, such as the vendor's website; sometimes Q has the best deal some time not. In the end Q is just a place to shop online like any other place, i.e. Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, Nordstoms, etc.

Over 25 years ago the first shopping channel I ever saw was HSN. I bought a few things from them but then received items of such poor quality I stopped watching and buying for 15 years. I have watched QVC since its inception and have bought a lot over the years. Occasionally I watch HSN or ShopHQ fashion shows but buy very little. I find HSN has higher prices on clothing so only buy on clearance and they have real clearance sales not a couple bucks off like the Q.

My buying however has decreased due to the same issues mentioned and that I am retired and don't need certain things anymore. I have enough to last me probably til the end. I have always loved to shop but right now I live about 40 miles from a good shopping area. Watching the Q is shopping but I don't get tempted to buy like I did in the past. I record some fashion shows and zip thru them. Fashionably Early, Quacker, AM Style, and Dooney for the most part and some shoe shows. I used to really like D&Co because they were reasonable and had some cute little detail. Not anymore, they mostly sell plain old basics which I can get for much less.

As for the hosts. I don't think of them as my friends but I do think of them as people. I like 95% of them and think they do a difficult job well. I really despise the host bashing that goes on on some of these boards. Some of the really cruel posters remind me of those Junior High bullies who drive others to suicide. Fortunately the hosts are adults not kids and better able to handle or ignore it. I could not tell you the name of any of the hosts on the other channels. They are just like background noise, not individuals. Maybe because the Q hosts inject their own personalities or lives into their shows which some people seem to hate.

I think the complaints often voiced here fall on deaf ears. And they are honest and valid complaints. The management at the Q is the problem and they don't care to change anything. They would be replaced and surely don't want that. Now there are just too many other shopping choices for the public. Most of the unique offerings have been discontinued. With today's technology it is so easy to price compare. I guess the Q is still profitable but I think that will decrease. If they only updated their thinking I think they could increase sales dramatically with free or reduced shipping, more unique items etc. There are people in power making really poor decisions IMHO.

Well said..

I have it on a few minutes a week--while I'm waiting for a "Judge Alex" commercial break to pass by, for instance.

I never have it on full time, although there was a time when I watched quite often. These days it's only on when there's nothing else on tv I want to watch or if they're showing something like VitaMix, or KitchenAid, both of which interest me. I really enjoy Laura Weathers from KA, and always watch her when I know she's going to be on. I honestly can't watch David V. with his insanely silly acting, but I hold my breath and try to ignore him sometimes when Laura's there.

I will also watch most of a Laura Geller show, since I respect her thinking on makeup.

I will definitely watch Emeril and Rachel Ray - love Emeril, and like Rachel, and find them both very informative. They both REALLY cook, and I enjoy that in a kitchen/cooking show.

I like the automotive shows that Dan Hughes has been doing from time to time. Have found some great guy gifts on those shows, and a couple of things for me.

And I'll watch anything that Carolyn Gracie is presenting. She's definitely my favorite host.

I will say this, I like to watch Amy, I think that is here name, late Thursday nights, Friday morning. She usually does an accessory show. She gives out great info, but I also like the tweets are on the bottom from real people who have used the product. I think that is cool and would love to see more of the tweets from real people on what they think. Or on any other shows.

QVC is pure entertainment. There's nothing like live TV.

Plus, I love to buy stuff.

I'll try to answer your questions. OK, I keep 2 TV's on during the day. I live in a big house and I like some noise. I don't like going into a quiet room. Usually QVC is on in the bedroom.

I used to buy a lot from mainly QVC. I still buy more than most people probably. Mostly clothes although different items. The clothes have gotten way too big. I've lost some weight but not that much. The arms on the QVC items are stupid long. No real person has arms as long at these clothes! Yet I keep trying. I used to just keep the clothes and give them to Goodwill. Now I return them. Most of what I buy is on Easy Pay because that way I figure I'm not out that much money initially. Due to health issues it is difficult for me to shop in stores.

I don't work but I like to look nice even if I'm going to the grocery store or the Drs or out to dinner (which I do often). When I leave my house you'd think I was going to work. Everything matches and I wear a lot of jewelry, makeup on hair done. When my husband died suddenly I decided I could go out looking like a slob or take my time and leave the house looking nice. He would like that too. He was my world. He died in my arms. I thought that I would not sit in the house and wither away. My three daughters are thankful for that decision.

I used to impulse buy but I haven't done that for many years.

How often do you watch? I tune in to watch specific shows. Sometimes I will check whats on during a commercial and if something is coming up I really like I will record it.

Do you watch only QVC? Yes. I don't watch any of the other shopping channels, they just don't appeal to me.

What do you usually buy? Fashion - mostly Isaac and Linea but some D&C, and LCNY. Shoes - Isaac & Clarks. Beauty - pretty much just WEN now. I used to buy all my beauty from QVC and used only Philosophy and Bare Escentuals for years. Now I use only natural skin care products and makeup with fewer/no chemicals. Home décor - some flameless candles and the occasional unique kitchen item.

Why do you buy? I watch because I like seeing products demonstrated or clothes presented before I buy them. I used to buy much more from QVC than I do now. I also buy more online than over the phone.

Impulse? Rarely. In the past probably more so but now I ususally only buy if I am looking for a specific item.

Like getting gifts in the mail? I actually don't like getting things in the mail - I hate dealing with recycling all the boxes and dealing with all the packaging. Whenever possible, I will buy local to avoid the hassle associated with all the shipping materials and to support my local economy. For example, I carry Vera Bradley bags and I will buy them locally as opposed to QVC even if QVC has them for less.

Do you buy more from certain hosts? I buy based on the product not the host and will usually research and buy through qvc.com. However, there are certain hosts that I like and don't like. Carolyn, David, Leah, Jill, Shawn, Lisa and Dan W I like the most. I will generally not watch any hosts other than these ones and would go to qvc.com instead.

Is t here something they can say to make you pick up that phone? Clothing - yes if they provide measurements, clearly show the colors and explain the fit and fabric well. The better they do this the more likely I will buy. Are there any gimmicky things they can say like - this is the only order of the season or when its gone, its gone - NO.

Do you have it on in the background for company? No.

Are these your friends when you're lonely or bored? No.

Do you buy because you can't find these items elsewhere? Yes and No. Some products I can only find on QVC but I do a lot of comparision shopping and always buy local if I can. If I have to go online or to QVC I buy based on whoever has the best price.

Or you feel the prices are better? If the price is better I will buy from QVC, if not I will buy from whoever has the best price, but I will buy local even if it is more.

How do you feel about shipping and the fact that S/H charges seem very high compared to other online retailers? Shipping charges are very high and as a result QVC is losing a lot of my online purchases to companies like LLBean and Amazon. If I can buy it from them or a comparable product that is just as good, I will buy from LLBean or Amazon.

Do you buy a bunch of smaller priced beauty items and then pay $5-7 EACH for shipping when you could go to another retailer and get free shipping for your entire purchase? I will bundle items as much as possible with QVC to reduce shipping costs but as previsouly explained, I will gladly buy from other online retailers with no or lesser shipping costs.

Similar situation here. Widow and currently recuperating from illness so QVC fills in time. Currently I cannot get out to shop. I shopped QVC a lot for years, but now do not impulse buy either. I don't work either and same as AnnabelletheCat like to go out looking nice with everything matching. I seldom plan to watch anymore except for Linea shows. Years ago I would search the program guide and if I wasn't available, I recorded a lot of shows and always was interested in what the TSV would be. They are no longer such a great value, so I tune it, but usually change the channel. Fit of a lot of QVC's clothing is too big for me also and they are slow in getting petites even though I noticed Lisa Rinna's show had a lot of petites. I like her, but her styles are not for me. Trying to be more selective in purchases. Hosts don't act professional like they did when I first began watching about 20 years ago. I do shop online from several websites. Will not go through with a QVC order process when I see how much it comes to with tax and shipping.
