I had bought a pair of shoes online (not QVC) but really didn’t like and decided to return. This company gives you 60 days to return with the usual caveat not worn and return in original packing. I ended up only paying $37 for a$60 pair of shoes with discount. So I went to UPS with the package all ready to return and to my shock sending it UPS ground would cost $19. Post Office wanted $24.50but it would arrive by Sat 9-1-18. I decided to keep the darn shoes as returning cost wasn’t worth it My goodness. I had not sent anything via UPS for so long I was in shock at the cost

Have you ever considered shopping with Zappos? Free shipping free returns.  Buy stuff all the time from them.

Curious as to why this package would have cost so much to return either way UPS or USPS. Those charges are astronomical.

I ordered a bed pillow (not from QVC) and it cost me $15.00 to send it back. I wasn't pleased, but the pillow cost over $50.00. It is ridiculous.

Once you get a package that weighs more than 3 lbs or is longer or wider than the "standard" package size the industry has set, you will pay about the same up as you would for a package that is 6 or 7 lbs unless you are a corporation with discounted fees. Ah, fun with metered rates...

Always amazes me when posters complain about QVC shipping rates.  Unless you are lucky enough to purchase from a free shipping site, QVC's rates are much lower than the average company.  I am rarely lucky enough to find anything I want on the free shipping sites.  And, you rarely get something for nothing, so that free shipping is costing you somehow.

Shipping a box is ridiculously expensive.  I used to ship a box now and then to family.  Now I stuff it in my suitcase and bring it along when I visit.

I gave up exchanging gifts at Christmas with my family because the postage to mail them was running $30-$50.  It just wasn't worth it.

To arrive by the 1st means it would have to arrive by Friday 9/30 since most online retailers don't staff to accept packages on weekends.

UPS doesn't deliver on weekends unless you want to pay extra.

I work in postal and a pair of shoes usually weighs too much to go 1st class but could have gone by priority mail for a lot less than $24.50. Use the non-flat rate shoe shaped priority box.  Use flat rate if the shoes are unusually weighty.   Unless your shoes were outrageously heavy, they could have gone for $10-$12 max.

How did you package your shoes?  The size of the box also determines cost.  I never return shoes in the outer box.  I have some cheap 19x24 and 14x18 envelope type envelopes.  They don't weigh much and the cost to ship is a lot less.

Big businesses get huge discounts from UPS, FedEx, and USPS.  One of the teams I supervised before I retired handled mail for one of the larger business units.  UPS and FedEx boxes were shipped for $3-$4.  USPS was even less.
