I don't really think it's a big deal. Worse things have come out of hosts' mouths on this channel. She may have been trying to think of another word and antithesis is what came out. If someone is standing up on live TV presenting for hours at a time, there is a chance they will use an incorrect word, or language may not be the most concise. You can only say so much about clothing with rhinestones and whimsical prints on it.
I understand KZ is not the most well-liked host on the boards and there's been lots of complaints here, so maybe there's a bias already against her, but clearly higher-ups at QVC must like her enough to keep her on, at least on Q2. I don't know if they provide refresher training on hosting, but it might be something to keep in mind.
They like her "demographic" young attractive "busy mom"....which she doesnt let us forget either...

The fact is we didnt apply for a job as a host....a job that supposedly KZ has received an education and training for in college and broadcasting school..... and thats in addition to two years that this host has had on the air......(and hearing her give her resume it sounds like she's flitted from job to job in broadcasting too....) She makes LOTS of mistakes in her shows....its not just one gaffe

@Johnnyeager wrote:Yes, she made a mistake.
But for someone in her position, in that venue, it was a big one.
Disastrous? Monumental? No. But shows the lack of care in preparing for a presentation.

It absolutely does Not show a lack of preparation. It shows she made a mistake.
Sometimes over preparation, can make you, your own worst enemy. You're trying so hard to be perfect, you're too stressed, and you're anything but.
That probably didn't apply to this situation, but, I'll bet my retirement fund, on something 😈
I'll bet, a whole passel of viewers, didn't catch the mistake, and for, a bunch of those who did, it very likely became one of those, chuckle about it, "oops moments", oops, that wasn't the word she wanted😊And it doesn't rate a second thought.
One thing about bosses, if they think you deserve to be on the hot seat, 🥵, they don't hesitate to put you there!
Even now, she may be getting, or have gotten, her 30 lashes, and a trip to speech therapy.

@handygal2 wrote:@millieshops : Point well taken. I don’t think she should be fired... just better-prepared with her talking points.
@handygal2 I remember Jane T refer to Judith Ripka as Joan Rivers twice in one presentation and Judith Ripka was gracious and never opened her mouth. I know that Jane knew them apart but she is in the heat of battle (a big time TV presentation) where she erred. Soldiers do it on the battlefield and cops do it in times of stress and danger. Public speaking is one of the most fearful things anyone ever does. So, I think we should "just let it go."
It's not the same thing, why would one ever compare a demo from a show host to what cops or soldiers do.

@millieshops wrote:@handygal2I disagree - you're sitting outisde the turmoil of a busy stage with all the time in the world to listen and even relisten. Speakers do not have that time and, according to various speech teachers I've worked with, should not be judged by the standards of the written language where thoughtful proofreading can eliminate many missteps.
In addition, I don't like the tendency of social media to call for firing so many people. Can't imagine you or anyone else you know worked through a career without making an error - especially one that doesn't change the world - probably doesn't even change the sale of the QF item being presented.
IMO, there ARE errors that should be investigated as a potential reason for removing someone from a position. A misspoken word on a shopping channel just doesn't get anywhere near my standard.
Let's hold her to a STANDARD OF HER PEERS, those who do a GREAT JOB and take time with their preparation....never seen a host make as many mistakes as KZ.......Host hired after her are more polished, prepared and more sincere in their presentations.....like I said before its like she puts a script in her mind and if something comes up that makes her deviate from the script she makes gaffes!!! Instead she should do her homework on the merchandise she is presenting (afterall we hear about the product and production meetings the host attend) so INSTEAD OF PREPARING A SCRIPTED STORY and she needs to just give honest detailed information about the product, fabric and performance........See my comments on other threads about Terri Conn, Courtney K, Leah. Katie, Gabrielle...etc etc....
@Spurt : You make a good point about her presentations not coming across as terribly sincere. I’ve felt that way too, but thought it might be my imagination. I can’t put my finger on it— maybe it’s the inflections of her voice. Courtney Cason is similar in that respect, IMO.

I think a lot of you here are missing the point. I never said show hosts are perfect, and not allowed to make mistakes, especially new hosts. But she is no longer a novice, and the gaffes have been numerous.
No firing, no taking away her birthday, no punishment. Just some additional training is needed here. End of story.

At any rate, I wonder what the QF antithesis would look like.
Something tailored, stylish and classy.

I am in awe that there are SIX pages discussing a "mistake" that a host made....unreal! I'd guarantee you just as another poster said, I bet hardly anyone even noticed it, let alone felt the need to create a thread to "discuss" it! lol
Wow and we wonder what is wrong with this world. I'd like to see some of you all step up to the plate and be a host for a day, oh and make sure you make NO mistakes while you're at it too!! lol
This is all so silly, but I had to comment...
#stopjudging
#nooneisperfect
Oh and just for the record, Kristine Zell is my favorite host, but even if she wasn't I would still feel the SAME way I do about this if for instance we were discussing Mary Beth Roe (it was a mistake, not a big deal) That being said, I think Kristine Zell does a great job, she always has such an upbeat attitude and it's refreshing to watch her presentation(s). IMO of course

@SpurtI wasn't reacting to the host's overall performance because that wasn't the gist of the original post.
Actually, I have no idea who she is even - nor do I know why QVC continues to use her if she's not up to the job. BTW- my understanding is that it's up to her producer to point out egregious errors. From my exerience with student teachers, I'd say she could be quite unaware of the error like the one that started this thread, but if she's wrong frequently, I'd think on some level she knows.
But I also know, some of our reactions to the hosts is based on who we are as much as who they are. Some of my favorite hosts over the years were not Forum favorites and some of the Forum favorites were close to automatic turn-offs for me.
