Is they do not listen to their customers complaints and make changes.  For years we have compolained about the merchandise sold.....now we are complaining about  too mmuch money being spen t on too many host presentations - prices - shipments - LACK of the real designewrs they use to have and the screatching ssilliness of the amature hosts and why so many models....that too is costly.  QVC is now just a poorly runned business trying to be dsomethings they asre not.  They started out smart 35 years ago when they use to have no products and shows on the road.  It is just a matter of time.....HSN was smart to  sell out to QVC.

HSN was purchased by Qurate Retail Group, not QVC.

I don't understand some of these complaints.  If I was so dissatisfied with a vendor, I would take my money elsewhere.  While I appreciate the convenience of on online retailer, or for me the entertainment of watching the shows on occassion, there are plenty of other vendors that would be happy to take your funds.

Once again it does not matter how many hosts are presenting. These are not hourly employees.

Secondly, HSN did not sell out to QVC. They are both subsidiaries of Quarte Retail Group.

To your point about the business being run poorly. I would agree, but quite frankly I believe the true problem is that TV shopping is not the way that most consumers obtain their products anymore. Their audience will continue to shrink in size, and in my opinion the business model is just not sustainable for the long term.

2 hosts bug me because all they do is out shout each other

sadly you might be right about the sustainability of the business model, a couple of generations ago the concept of Sears,  Mont Ward and their like no longer existing as stores and catalogs, would have been hard to grasp

however, even in my area which is the tri-state always a huge shopping area, there is not as much choice as a few years ago

so there might be a place for the Q if they can figure it out.

So, Qurate owns QVC and HSN, but HSN was absorbed by and is a subsidiary of QVC.

The following is an excerpt from a 2019 article...

Tampa Bay Times

March 4, 2019

ST. PETERSBURG — The shopping conglomerate that owns HSN and QVC has restructured the company even more since combining the two networks under the same business in the fall, its chief executive told investors on Thursday.

In its shareholder breakdown of year-end and fourth-quarter revenues, Qurate Retail, Inc. noted that HSN is now a subsidiary of QVC Inc. Despite maintaining its branding, network and local offices, HSN has officially been absorbed by its long-time at-home shopping rival. As of Dec. 31, QVC included QVC U.S., QVC International and HSN. ...

Re: THE KEY TO FAILURE

[ Edited ]

Selling on TV is already dead. How many new customers lured in with free shipping or some other tactic in the last 5yrs actually stayed a customer at Q or H? How many are repeat customers?  "Value" is defined by the Customer, NOT the business.  Value can equal timely shipping, a minimum of market pricing or lower, quality, etc.  Value is different to everyone, but QVC cannot define it and has not been able to be consistent with all the examples I listed that are important to me as a customer.

To make profit QVC and HSN will both have to go to online only and maybe streaming, but I am not sure if that is just more of the same as TV (explain why there are so many channels again, when hsn2 is just repeats or totally edited beauty shows and Q2 is basically the clearance channel). Q and H can dump studios, on air "talent", production, sets, decorators, channels for broadcasting/licenses, etc. If they go to an Amazon type of format (combine stock and warehouses) they might be able to turn it around. You can still have auto delivery, daily deals, lightning deals, etc. Become a warehouse company with direct distribution to the customer.

And honestly, HSN should probably go away completely and divvy up the hosts if they want to relocate to PA. They are "Q lite", but some (not all) better hosts.

The same thing happened to Network tv, people stopped watching and went to streaming. Everyone now has an app or streaming channel. But people are not going to pay to stream QVC, that is the catch.

@ajsidney12, Some us prefer and shop more at HSN. They don't present a three ring circus atmosphere. They ship quickly and accurately. I think they present more new items. They also offer coupons as an incentive to buy.

Network TV is alive and well and not going anywhere. People have not stopped watching network TV. Some may have, but not everyone has that ability even if they wanted to.

In my region both QVC and HSN are available over the air. But if I want to live stream either channel I certainly don't need to pay any subscribers to do so.

Not everyone streams. There are millions that don't subscribe to cable. There are millions that don't have WiFi.

I never put on hsn. That stopped years ago. I do not know how to say this nicely....I feel they are a low rate QVC. When I used to watch I felt they were always a "hard sell" channel. I feel QVC comes across as more up to date with better quality items ( for the most part).

@grzbela

I believe what they are saying is most of them were long time customers. QVC used to be classy and sold very nice products with very professional hosts presenting them. I believe they wanted to continue to watch but the programming and hosts have  now become unwatchable and the products are stale and repeated over and over. This did not happen in the past. One example, today there was an hour of Josie Maran. How many hours of Josie have aired in the last week? How much Josie Maran do we need. QVC used to have more vendors, usuable products and not cheap items made in China.
