This is typical of age discrimination,  But I can sure think of a few "younger" ones that should go.

Maybe not.  They probably saw the writing on the wall and waited it out.  Both those hosts had reduced on-air schedules for quite some time.  I bet they're leaving with very big severance packages and are probably well invested with maybe a 401K and the like.  I'm certain if they want other job opportunities, they'll be out there and if not, may their retirement years be blessed with good health and happiness.  I enjoyed both Dan and Carolyn very much.

I don't see it as an age thing. To me, the longer you've been with a company, the higher your salary.

Financially I'm sure they will be fine.  I'm just sad that Carolyn will no longer be doing Denim & Co.  I enjoyed her on air personality very much.

The only sad part was the way it was done. They obviously didn't expect it or they would have said on air that this was their last day. No cake, no farewell, just Gone.  Carolyn even said she would be back on Sunday with D&C and had a swimsuit collection coming in April.  A Real Slap in the face to 2 loyal employees as well as a 30 yr host on HSN. Glad I didn't work for such a shallow company.

They could have been "Terminated" in a nicer way was my point.

Not so much age discrimination as bad luck and poor business decisions on the part of QVC for many years.

As a result, they're now getting painted into a corner financially and are having to make some very difficult decisions to keep their head above water.

Unfortunately, moves like this and other other recent changes won't necessarily sit well with the customer.  Then they lose even more of the precious cash flow they need right now.

And that's exactly why older employees are gotten rid of.  So the corporation can bring in new employees at a fraction of the cost.  (Funny how often the top execs salaries don't go down or they're not let go to cut costs.  Even when the company is struggling or failing.)

However, it still boils down to age discrimination.
