@Venezia. Thanks for the information; I didn't know that there are no merino sheep in Ireland. I've had merino and know it's very soft and not at all scratchy.

We have quite a few sheep ranches in New Mexico. The one with which I'm most familiar raises dorpher sheep which have no fleece and are raised strickly for meat, which tastes like veal.

On the Irish sweater shows, I have noticed they say the sweaters are made in Ireland, but they never say the wool is from sheep in Ireland.
It's not exactly false advertising, but it is logical for the viewer to assume the sheep and wool are from Ireland if you didn't know a bit about sheep in Australia.
As usual, buyer beware. The sweaters are beautiful though.
