Some of the hosts always seem to be louder than others. I almost always have to turn the volume down. And btw I don't see this as picking on the host. Customer feedback yes but picking on no. And she's an adult on tv she can probably handle it.

Sharon does speak very fast, but she's not the only one.  Several of the hosts fly through so fast that my older ears can't keep up. And they're not all women. Some of the guys are even worse. QVC must have speed talking classes - everyone is getting faster.

I don't know if you realize it; however, as we get older we do not hear or comprehend as well as we did earlier in life.  We may think we are, and no one really wants to tell us, but it is a fact.  We don't walk as fast, we don't eat as fast, etc.

I know you are not "picking on Sharon", as I am not picking on you.  I am merely stating a medical fact and perhaps you need to accept reality -- you are aging.

If I was watching a channel and found both women and men talking too fast, I would not watch.  I would get in my car and go shopping in an actual store.  Get out in the fresh air and talk to people.  Smile and enjoy life.  QVC has over 100 million viewers, they will go on.

I absolutely do not have a problem hearing.

Until Yesterday, I thought. I was watching the video on the Shark vacuum (I know, I know, it was presented umpteen times, but I didn't have the tv on and my son is looking for a vacuum). The host was talking so fast, she was speaking like those disclaimers facts at the end of ads (10,000 words in 10 seconds or less), I had to stop the video and read about it instead. Then I looked at some other product, it was the same host on the video, so I didn't watch and didn't buy anything.

Did you ever go to QVC and take their tour?  If you haven't, definitely put it on your list of things to do.  It is fascinating.

Anyhow, one part of the tour shows the control room.  The hosts are not doing all the presentations they way they want to.  The people in the control room are directing them constantly.    If they used certain words that intrigue the customers and the control room sees the sales spike up, they will tell them to repeat that thought because it is making sales.  They will also tell them to move on quickly to get to the next product or to get to the next aspect of the product on air.

When someone is chatting about their family, the sales may be going up because people are thinking that would be great for Uncle Joe (or whoever).  These hosts are totally guided by the director.  The director can see the phones lines and the sales being made.  There is definitely a method to what QVC is doing and it is all explained on the tour.

The next time you do not care for the host talking fast or the host chatting about their family, think about why they may be doing it.  They are being guided.
