Whenever I have a "sticky" situation (I still wear dresses and skirts) I reach for my pettipants.   I threw out all my slips but my pettipants live on.   They seem to be indestructable and they do the job of putting a silky barrier between my lumps and fine, clingy material.

Good grief.  I can't imagine not wearing a slip with a skirt, dress, or blouse.  When I bought a new blouse, I'd buy a new camisole to wear under it.  Unless a skirt came with it's own lining, I'd buy a slip to go with it.  I still have a drawer of slips, camisoles, and pettipants in every length, shape, and color they come in (even retired and living in jeans, ya neva know when you'll need a hot pink ribboned camisole!).   I could wear a menswear-style black suit but feel frilly feminine knowing I had on a lacy black full length slip underneath.

Guess that shows my age, doesn't it?

@SAM55....I still wear slips!  Last one I purchased was at Penny's.

I had a friend that was the supervisor in her office.  She had to take a girl aside and talk to her about the dress code....I guess she was wearing shear dreses/skirts and you could see her thong underwear thru her clothing...she worked in a public service job.

My friend had to explain to her what a slip was!!

I still wear a slip if the dress or skirt needs one.  I wear pants a lot so don't need as many as I used to.  The elastic in some of my half slips has deteriorated and no longer usable.  Ever have that happen?

I really hate to see anyone wear sheer clothing without the proper undergarments.  Some of the camis are so pretty under a sheer blouse.  I guess times have changed as slips aren't available as much as they used to be.

Is a slip a chemise?
