I have a Costco, Sam's Club and a BJ's membership. They are each different in their own way, carry many of the same items, yet each has their own brands of unique items.

I compare prices when I shop. I know which items frequently are on sale, especially at BJ's. If not on sale one week, two weeks later it will be. What I dislike with BJ's is downloading digital coupons, or clipping their coupons. If I'm a member, just give me the sale price the way the other two warehouses do. But they are also the only one that takes additional manufacture's coupons.

I save enough on the gas prices at Sam's and BJ's to justify the cost of membership. Costco, in a different county, always seems to have higher gas prices over the other two. I do a lot of online shopping with them since that are the farthest from me. I love shopping their online items not available in the warehouse. No matter what I have bought, I've never paid a shipping fee, even for frozen items.

I see the membership fees creeping up. I still feel it's worth it to me. When I don't I'll cut back. To me, since I enjoy shopping the warehouses, I view part of the cost of membership to be an entertainment cost if that makes sense.

@conlt, I use to be on a prescription strength Esomeprazole Magnesium, which was 40mg instead of over the counter 20mg.

Since you require the amount you do, I wonder if it would be more cost effective to have your doctor write a prescription for it. It probably depends on your insurance and co-pay.

And I agree, that's something I always stock up on when on sale.

Two years ago we decided to give Sam's Club a try.  They were having a promotion, $15.  I didn't go very often so we didn't renew.

I know Sam's Club is raising the membership fees.  But as Plus members it is worth it to us.  Some of our prescriptions are MUCH cheaper than they would have been with just our insurance.

I just paid $25 for a year at Sam's Club. It was a special offer. I'd never pay $60. I won't use it that much
