Re: Sam Simmons sounds sick as a dog

Yea, she's the latest  victim of whatever they've spread around that  makes their  nose runny , voice sound gravely like they have sore throats.

There's atleast 4 or 5  of them that have sounded ill

It’s that time of the year! 🥴

It seems like every store I’m shopping in I come across someone that’s under the weather. 😩

A lot of people are not contagious but coughing hangs on. It's that time of year so we need to get used. It's not like she can wear a mask on air.

In addition, not everyone can afford to stay home. I'm sure she has benefits but countless don't.

Quite a few come to work sick, I think it is expected.

I worked for a huge corporation for nearly 40 years.  Did I dare call in sick?  No way! The repurcussions were nearly career ending and affected pay increases and bonuses.

Let's not judge. It could be the difference between being employed and unemployed, eating and not eating this week, rent or homelessness, kids' coats or not, etc.

@ValuSkr give her a listen sometime, she is much more professional and better at giving you information that you can actually use than most.

I very, very much doubt that a QVC host will become homeless,  penniless and lack for food and clothing if they take an occasional "sick day", which should be encouraged by management.   That notion really had me laughing out loud!

Standard QVC Group benefits for all employees;  those for hosts may be even more generous:

"Our Total Rewards package includes benefits you’ll love such as competitive compensation, paid time off, an employee assistance program, parental leave, paid volunteer hours, and amazing company discounts! In our US market, you can also expect health care benefits starting on day 1, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement benefits."

I agree that QVC hosts can thankfully afford to take sick days, as their total compensation package is generous.

However, QVC Group has been none-too-shy about hinting at another round of possible layoffs if revenue doesn't pick up substantially very soon.

I imagine the "last in the door" hosts are feeling they don't want to do anything that may call attention to their sales goals slipping, for any reason.  The pressure must be incredible right now.  Miss work, miss sales.

Re: Sam Simmons sounds sick as a dog

Many years ago, I worked for a wonderful company who made it a point to let their employees know that they should not come to work when sick.

They didn't want us to shake hands, talk with  clients,  etc., and spread our germs all around the area while on calls.

Kudos to similar companies.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
