Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

The email states "price drop alert - fresh markdown on finds you and your wallet will love".     It was for an American Leather purse I had in my wishlist.   However, the price went UP about $4, it did not "drop".    I think that's a terrible gimmick to try to make a sale - as it's a lie as the statement is not true.

@BunSnoop - I have to agree that it's ridiculous to send out these emails.  I get them all the time and, without fail when I click on the item, the price is higher or back to full price.  (I just delete them now.)

Did the price drop for a nanosecond, when they sent the email, and then revert back to the higher price?  I think not.

I don't think it's a deliberate attempt to lie.  I just think it's an antiquated system and a good measure of incompetence.  JMHO.

---------

Just had to add this:  I just received yet another email with "Your favorites are here!"  And NONE of the things shown are things I've purchased or been interested in.  Delete, delete, delete.

And let's not forget the one I also just got:  "Back in stock!"  And every item, when attempting to add it to my cart?  "Just missed it!"

My best guess @BunSnoop , since I would not go so far as to say QVC is lying, the purse was no longer at sale price. Perhaps when you saw it originally it had a special offer. Then, the price increased and now decreased again.

I can always check the fluctuations in prices when I shop. You can see with these particular AL purses by the graphs below to the right, they DID indeed drop in price, several times.

Many different sales are offered at different times, you just have to pick the price that's right for you and go for it.

@cjm61 How do you check price fluctuations?

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

I ❤️ when they send emails about price drops !!

For example I buy Elemis and they’re known for prices going up and down. When I call CS i make sure to tell the rep that I’m happy they sent me an email notification. 🤗

Just the other day I paid $120 for 3 - 60 count Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads. They were shipped, but I hadn’t received them yet.

They dropped in price to $98 for the same trio !! 😎

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

@RescueLover - And were you able to get a refund of the difference in price?

I, like many others, haven't been granted a price difference in ages, since the new (unwritten) policy went into effect.

I don't even bother asking anymore, which I guess was the Q's intention.

@Venezia I have to admit, I never continually check an item's price AFTER I purchase. I only buy something that I know is at a price I am happy with and don't bother taking time to watch it fluctuate. But QVC does have a "written" policy on their site. It is not unwritten.

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

Of course I did.. @Venezia 🤗

I paid full price for 3 jars at $120 (which is a decent price, considering one jar can sell for $60)

They went down in price to $98.98, so I got the difference credited back to me of $21.02

I also check my Wish List at least 3 times a day for price drops, but an email from QVC is an even better alert since it does automatic price drops.

MAYBE.. you aren’t getting price drops, because the items you bought SOLD OUT in that case nobody can get a credit.

@cjm61 @RescueLover - I know what the written policy says.

And I know what my experience has been.  I have the emails to prove it.  Regardless of what the "written" policy is, it's hit or miss whether the CS rep (and I'm talking the moderators here) will issue a refund of the difference.

It's become so specific that if something says "Clearance price", "Sales clearance price", etc. they will not issue a refund.

The only instance now is if it says "Sale price".  I've run into it too many times, even though the item I bought was still in stock (same size, same color, etc.), I've been refused a refund with an "explanation".

I'm happy for anyone else who manages it though.  I just don't buy as much as I used to, because I'm tired of the games with pricing and policies, written or unwritten.

---

ETA:  And I did write to QVC about this and got the usual "I've forwarded your concerns to..."  Useless.

Re: Received QVC Email "Price Drop Alert"

Correct… @Venezia 🤗

The item has to be Full price or Sale price for the price adjustment.

I miss the times when they did it for Everything, but i can understand why changes were made.
