@josie - If you're returning the book because you don't want it, I'd recommend going to the post office and paying for shipping yourself—with the Media Mail option, you'll probably spend less than $6.95 even if your book is a thick hardcover one, and if it's a smaller book, First-Class Mail will likely be less, too. But if you're returning the book because it is defective or damaged, you will not be charged at all for using the Q return label; you'll get a full refund of your original purchase price, including shipping.

QVC applies tiered shipping fees and return fees for its items, so that's the reason why you'll often see cheaper initial shipping costs. I'm guessing if you had to return the ladder, the shipping tier would be at least the $12.95 level if not higher, and that rate is still going to be much cheaper than you shipping it back on your own. (For example, a few years ago, I had to return a bedding set to the Q, and I was very happy to have a $12.95 return label because the comparison rate I got at the post office was almost $23 since the box was so big and heavy.)
