I have been watching for years, when I first started it was great, since then they have gotten rid of a lot of vendors and now focus on their own products. Seems they have gotten money hungry too a lot of their own Q card mentioned and some of the hosts have gotten very pushy in their sales pitch, like Jayne Brown. It isn't even as fun to watch their Xmas shows anymore, any show I watch is the same old products over and over. If I see one more Josie Maran show I'm going to scream. Bring back the old QVC it was way more exciting!

The purpose of a business is to make money through sales and not to entertain. The hosts are hired to bring in sales. Don't really get this post! If I didn't like QVC I wouldn't watch and if any business displeased me so much I wouldn't continue to want to shop there! There is no business that wants to go backward and stay stagnent as that is a sure way to not prosper! The need to appeal to a younger demographic is necessary as the older generation of buyers from years ago ages and shrinks.

I completely understand what OP is saying. Q has its regular products (or variations thereof) that it shows week after week after week after week.
The boomer generation is larger than any other at this time. Large corporations will trample over the 55+ to make younger people happy. Work in any large corporation and that's all you'll hear and see as they push the experienced workers out the door.
I don't know how old you are but don't dismiss those older as dumb or backwards. People in their 50s and older can be just as, if not more, forward thinking than any younger person. The over 55 group isn't dead yet.

I think they are hired to entertain. Look back 20 years ago. There were no high jinx antics and dancing around on the stage. They are their own little celebrities on the ultimate reality show.

Baby Boomers are getting old and starting to die off.
It's the Millennials that are the largest generation that's around now.

Yes, increasing sales is the name of the game but I think sales have slipped lately so there is room for improvement. The shows are boring, the hosts are not "stars" but salespeople who should do their best to not annoy the audience. I mostly was interested in jewelry shows but those are far and few with no excitement. With David and Peyton both gone I assume that department is in for many changes and probably not for the better...but I will keep my fingers crossed. LOGO took over the fashion scene and I hate uneven hems with a piece of lace or chiffon sewn on at some part of the garment. When Birkenstock left the shoe department I left. I started just looking at QVC .com to avoid the IT cosmetic shows, the constant Dyson and Temptation viewings. So far that works for me because as I indicated many times on past posts there are too few products presented in each hour and now QVC seems to repeat the same items in many shows with another title...we are so tired of the same old stuff. Even the many fashion lines look alike with too much poly and rayon and spandex with colors that are the same from one line to the next as though they are all manufactured in the same factory...probably the case. A couple of years ago I was looking for a nice robe...none available! An entire shopping channel and not one robe! Now there are three channels but to date I see zero improvement in any aspect of the daily presentations.

LOL. Not dead yet! Boomers and Millenials are neck in neck with Generation X sandwiched in the middle. Must be difficult trying to attract Millenials who have the attention span of a prodded flea and the other two groups whose brains respond better to amplification and who have greater disposalble income at the same time. Now that internet shopping is a wonderland the shopping channels dont have the near exclusives that they had years ago. Unless you are one of those that has fallen prey to the host "i am your friend, trust me sales strategy", you comparison shop in the virtual marketplace regardless of your generation status. Sometimes the deals are great. More often they are just so so. Sometimes they are not a deal at all.

While there may be some entertainment factor, the ultimate goal of these salespeope is to sell!

@Maddie64 Bringing back the old QVC isn't going to happen. If you dislike the station so much, then opt out of watching and ordering from it. It's the capitalist system. Nobody is forcing you to watch or buy.

@CalminHeart I am 64 years old and like the way things are now as opposed to how QVC was years ago!

OP wants the "old" QVC back and that's backtracking to the days when the internet didn't have many or any retailers online or was just starting out. That idea would surelly have put QVC out of business years ago if they didn't change to meet the needs of the times. Probably many of the original old timers that purchased here when shopping channels were thought to be for old people are now gone and while there still are many boomers around, most do not purchase like they once did as they do not need or want more stuff as they age and downsize. I remember what a stigma it seemed to say you watched QVC with the collectable dolls, decorating shows with fru fru stuff, etc. that the oldsters liked. I always got teased about it but I had unique things they all wanted! Any business knows they need to continually get younger customers and I would think that Gen X and Millenials by far are the majority.
