Re: QVC and Pickleball!

[ Edited ]

Everywhere I look people are talking Pickleball.  First time I heard of it was in a bit  the late great Jeanne Robertson did many years ago about her husband.   It's a game that apparently all ages can enjoy especially seniors.  My granddaughter and her fiance (early 20's) are playing it nearly every day.  They gave pickleball gear as Christmas presents.

YUP!  VERY smart move for QVC.  Imagine the things that they can sell.

Equipment

shirts, sweaters, jackets etc.

bags to carry your equipment

shoes

Jewelry to look like pickleball rackets

Charcuterie boards that look like pickleball rackets or say PICKLEBALL!

Other stuff for pickleball parties

Nope, people who think this is nuts are missing the boat here.

ALL our local city and town parks have converted their tennis courts to Pickleball courts.

They had to change the morning start hours from 7:00 am - 8:00 am, because the neighbors did not like hearing the constant sound of Pickleballs. Pickleballs are smaller and harder than tennis balls, therefore the repetitive sound is much louder.

There are long lines of people waiting to get on these courts in the am hours. And the courts are filled up all day long.

QVC was Brilliant to get on board with this trend!!!

Do not seniors also regularly play tennis and golf, walking, among other sports?

Pickleball gained popularity mostly because of Covid and people wanted to be able to do something outside. Just like the peloton people just had to have.  Like the peloton, I think the interest will die down in the next 5 years.

Not surprised Q is doing something like this with pickle ball. Every other designer on the network has a color called "pickleball pink" (what does that mean anyways?) I have played organized sports my entire life from basketball, soccer, softball to volleyball and never once heard of "soccer green" or "basketball red".

PS huge amounts of people are not going to go watch Pickleball on the QVC streaming app.  They should stick to (trying) to improve their business plan which (was) to sell good quality products at a reasonable value.

@RescueLover  Our neighboring towns have wait lists for using the courts.  But the complaints about the sound are still increasing.

It's not just the balls, but the rackets.  Tennis rackets' strings are flexible and allow for that lovely bounce sound.  Pickleball rackets are solid and the sound has no where to go but reverberate, loudly.

And it's terrific that they're expanding the programming and variety as the continue to grow and develop QVC+.  So much still untapped capacity.

And no one's precious QVC broadcasts will be harmed in the process!

Besides a specific bag that fits Pickleball rackets, why is there Pickleball specific clothing and shoes? Can't someone just dress the same way as they did for Tennis?

Hi! @Caaareful Shopper 🤗🤗🤗

Very true the sound is the combination of both the racket and ball.

I grew up in the city and always wished we lived near the closest tennis court (it was only 5 minutes away by car) so that I could just get up and go outside to play! 🤗

NOW I’m glad we don’t live near one as I prefer peace and quite in the early morning hours. 😂

As far as pink for Pickleball goes @ajsidney12 Must be Aimee Kestenberg didn’t get the memo, cause she doesn’t have a pink pickle ball bag YET. 😂

However she does admit she created the bag and hasn’t played the game yet. 😁

Anything but lowering prices.I wonder how QVC matches up with HSN as far as sales figures. HSN seems to have more reasonable fashion pricing and when they mark down, it is more than $6.00..

@They CallMe MRWILKES Very interesting, you are a wealth of information!

I have to admit though I read the first sentence too quickly and thought it said "earrings release" and I was looking for a picture from @Desertdi , LOL.......I literally thought it was pickle ball earrings, which don't laugh too hard, Heidi Daus had them on HSN.   Thanks for the unintended chuckle Smiley Happy
