Yikes!  I thought that was exactly what the OP was stating in her post -- she was taking responsibility for her own "addiction" to shopping.  She described the ugiliness of it, from her personal perspective, which was just prompted by the Missing You email from QVC.

I know I shop too much.  However, no easy pay, if

I cannot afford the entire cost.  I do not buy.  That

is just me.  Everyone manages their money

in a different manner.  I have never paid interest on

anything except my home.

I never used easy pay before last month. I wanted to buy the emerald ring and I did not want to take money out of savings. After I pay it off, I will probably never use it again. But I can handle it if I do. I have money in the bank so I could pay it off if I want to now.

I use self control when dealing with the Q. I put items on my wishlist and think about them for awhile. When I do order I use my checking card, not my credit card so it comes out immediately.

Whenever this discussion arises, I always see at least one if not more responses that imply that ardent shopping - a.k.a., obsessive-compulsive/lack of impulse control -- is okay as long as you can afford it.

Not true at all. If it's truly a disorder and in any way affects one's life, emotions, and feelings, it's not okay. If it includes almost a manic high followed by an inevitable letdown that leads to more purchases, then it is not okay.

For anyone trying to break that cycle, beware of those who are in the midst of it but not yet ready to admit or understand it. It's the same with any obsession or addiction. You need to distance yourself from your fellow travelers.

Yes, all of this back patting can lead to a pulled muscle., and if you are going to be critical of a post, why not READ it first, so you have a clue as to what you are criticizing.

I try to limit my purchases. I usually purchase items on lunchtime specials and pay from my debit card. I do not make major purchases that I can't afford. I do have items on easy pay that come out of my checking account. I figure that into my budget. I have lost weight and many of my clothes are too big so I buy the Liz Claiborne jeans that are on clearance because I know that I will continue to go down to another size but I can not wear clothing that are falling off my body. I must admit I have gotten some pretty good deals that I could not have gotten in the B&M stores.

When I simply hsn missed me, they set coupons to get me back. It didn't work, but I appreciated their willingness to invest in me.
