@Lady Steam wrote:I just cancelled the Q Card, not only did the interest rate go up, but now they are charging for paper statements. Not everyone uses a computer. They really dont want you to be able to track a return credit.
I will use my Discover Card and get a paper statement to track my purchase history. I hope I am not the only one who uses paper.
I only use paper especially after trying paperless and ending up with laye fees because I didn' check ALL the places for the bill.

@Carmie, your post I agree, and that has always been a problem.
I'm talking about "others" not in your category, who are struggling and maxing out CC cards.

Yes, Nick’ s mom, you are right. Our Lowe’s card just went up to 31%, too. We paid it off and are not using it. If you opt out does that affect your credit rating?@MagnoliaMs If you opt out it will affect your credit rating. It's best to either pay off your balance monthly or simply not use the card at all.
I'm not sure if the credit card companies still do this, but if you have an open account with a zero balance and don't use it for a while, they will close your account, which also dings your credit score. I have a couple cards that I charge something to once or twice a year, then pay it off the next day, just to keep the account open.
If you're older ,own your home and pay cash for your auto, credit score not that important. Mine has been in 800-850 range for the past 17 yrs since I purchased my home. I have CC I don't use and are still active and I pay all my balances in full every month.
Same here, @ladychas , I never use Easy Pay and pay everything in full monthly. When I get my monthly statement, it reminds me Im overspending.
I only use one CC and have had it for 30 years. I pay it fully monthly, and I get several hundreds annually from them with my 1-1/2% Rewards.
There's nothing I must have this month if I cannot afford it. There's nothing I can't wait for. I once learned the hard way!

Ditto! This used to be illegal! The Q is getting worst by the minute

It is totally synchrony banks doing. I can't wait to pay all off. Most credit cards are with that awful greedy bank.

@ladychas wrote:. Next change will be a transzction charge to pay for these items to hit those that pay off in full montly. I guess that will be a notice in next 6 months. CC companies need
your money to support all those that don't pay or are late paing their bills.
@ladychas - Credit card companies will not start charging customer who pay in full each month a fee for doing so. That's absurd.

@icezeus wrote:Yes, they still do this. I have had a few send me a notice, that if I do not use it they will close. Like you, I will go out and purchase something small, and then pay it off to keep the card open. This has happened with Best Buy, Lowes, and Target.
@icezeus @Suzeecat - Talbots just closed my account two weeks ago for non-use. I didn't get any warning. It's okay. I can live without it.

It's common knowledge that store cards charge higher interest rates than regular credit cards. It's been that way for longer than I've been using credit cards, and that's a long time.
I did stop using my Lowes card due to the paper statement fee. I can get the same 5% off by using their military discount. I also stopped using my Synchrony card. Waiting to see if I get a notice for my Belk card.
I understand the ones who complain about missing their due dates. I've noticed I'll get a notice a few days before my due date, but never get one ON my due date. Plus, the E-mail I use for credit cards is the same one I use for everything else I do online, so I don't necessarily check it EVERY day and it's easy to get lost in the clutter of all those E-mails from retailers with their deals.
I still prefer to put all my bills in a basket in my bedroom with the due date and balance written on the outside of the envelope. That way, I can see that I need to pay as I walk past it in the morning.
I back that up with a reminder at noon on the due date for that card in my computer's Reminders app, because sometimes one gets busy and forgets. It's set to repeat every month on the same date per card.
One size does't necessarily fit all.

Just read that 45% of families are going into debt to take the family on a Disney vacation. They will be paying this off forever.
