I agree that the definition of plein air is a style of painting, however several paint companies also have colors with that name. Understandable considering the thousands of shades and tones in the paint color spectrum and they all have names.

@evelyner you are correct. It does mean in the outdoors. Plain air term is also used for outdoor painting, in natural light only. Although VanGogh was known to put candles on his flat brimmed hat as the natural. light diminished. There was quite a stir about this, lol. His hat did catch fire a couple times nd he gve tht up lol lol.
