IMO the "extensive host training program" isn't extensive enough.

It appears the selection process could also use tweaking.

@June222, I'm not really sure whom you are referring to as being long in the tooth, but if it's anyone over 30 (guessing here), they are the ones I enjoy most. Knowledgable, friendly, appropriately attired, and a nice sense of humor. JMO

When you see a host like Jill Bauer or Mary Beth Rowe host a show  They are so smooth and well spoken you almost do not even realize they are selling.  You do not realize how good they at their job until you see a newbie.  The newbie's are not terrible.  They just need to learn more from the masters.  What irritates me the most is when they use slang and improper English.  Improper English is jarring and ruins the presentation.

I'M just wondering how a host like Alberti will ever get to prime time. It seems a host would have to retire, get hours cut, or be let go to make room. Maybe for some reason he likes those late hours.

I think it is great to see some new hosts.  I, too would have liked to have seen a few male hosts.  Some of the "regulars" need a break, and some of the customers need a break from the "regulars" especially those who can't seem to use proper English.  I don't need to see a presentation about a product with the host whining about his or her personal life.

Sorry I am NOT talking about Dan Wheeler, that poor guy has had his share of heartbreak.  In fact, some of the "regulars" who do the whining should look to him for inspiration.

Anyway, kind of got off the point - would LOVE to see some nice, calm, easy to listen to hosts.  The two new ladies are very attractive, hope they both work out.

First, QVC probably needs more hosts to fill programing on Q Plus.    We also do not know what they will do with Zulily.   And, in January, there have been, in the past, hosts who leave do to low sales.   And QVC has been made aware of the need for hosts due to the personal needs for time off of the existing hosts.   Some hosts may want to go part time.

Does the Q really ever let anyone go? I'm just curious as I have watched the last few years and don't recall anyone being let go.

I have purchased from QVC for about 20 years.  They do let hosts go.

Another thought about the need for new hosts.  Jill Martin is very, very popular in the New York sports & entertainment scene, interviewing more & more A-list celebrities and athletes every week.  She has a very active Instagram account and it's amazing all of the things in which she's involved.  Not to disparage QVC, but her gig as the GILI director (or whatever her title is) seems a bit of an after-thought or much-lesser job in comparison.  I know there are actual designers we don't ever see doing the heavy lifting, but I would not be at all surprised if Jill gives up the QVC/GILI job to focus on all her other ventures.  I like Jill (that's why I check in on her IG account).  I know she's a bit polarizing on QVC, according to a lot of the FB posts.

Just my own out-loud thinking, nothing to support it at all.
