I'm constantly annoyed by the fact that QVC does not charge the correct sales tax for New York State. Taken right from our New York State tax website:
Clothing and footwear under $110 are exempt from New York City and NY State Sales Tax. Purchases above $110 are subject to a 4.5% NYC Sales Tax and a 4% NY State Sales Tax.
I purchased a clothing item for $118 and was charged 13% sales tax! I realize New York State is the land of taxes, but let's get it right, QVC. STOP overcharging New York State residents more than what is due. I'd like to know where the overage is going...

You should for sure contact customer service about that, I have had luck with the chat feature to talk to customer service.

@SAM55 Posting the same thing on more than one forum is against the rules ![]()

@SAM55 I'm with you. I live in CA. My tax is10.25%-on everything but food items at the market.
QVC charges tax on the shipping cost. Don't know if that is a state thing or a QVC generated. So, on something that costs $100 and $3.50 shipping, we pay $13.75 in taxes.

Depends on what county you live in.

if you purchase something for $118 you are NOT exempt and must pay state AND local taxes.
Purchases above $110 are subject to a 4.5% NYC Sales Tax and a 4% NY State Sales Tax.
The following are not eligible for exemption:
• Clothing and footwear that sold for $110 or more
per item or pair.
You also are only giving part of the law.
Clothing and footwear under $110 are exempt from New York City and NY State Sales Tax BUT
You are NOT posting the entire tax code.
Some counties still charge their tax even though the purchase is exempt from State tax. There are MANY charts to reference.
Purchases above $110 are subject to a 4.5% NYC Sales Tax and a 4% NY State Sales Tax.
Every single county in NY has different tax rates.
Be sure you know what you are talking about. I would suggest contacting QVC corporate if you still think you are being charged wrong.
Accounting software is programmed to know every single tax rate for every county in every state.

There is absolutely no combined sales tax rate anywhere in New York State that is anywhere near 13%.
The highest aggregate rate (state, county, local) is 8.875%.
