The concern is that changes are afoot at the Q.  For many people, the senior hosts have been a part of their daily routine for decades.  For me, I have spent more time "with" them than I have with my family.  It was an innocent question.  I, too, wonder what is coming.

Many of us don't see this as a change.  All of the hosts (including the ones who have been there for a long time) kick off TSV's.  As far as I know, it's always been that way.  I don't see this as anything different, and I can't imagine it being a reason for any kind of concern.  JMO.

Re: MaryBeth Roe

[ Edited ]

MBR hasn't kicked off a TSV in a very long time just like she hasn't hosted a 6:00 a.m. show in a very long time.

If I remember correctly, MBR moved down to part-time status after her car accident and she was working during the day/afternoons.  I never saw MBR host because I was only able to watch evenings and that's not when she hosted.

Now we see her kicking off the TSV and working early morning hours.  There are an over abundance of hosts to fill both main channel and Q2.  There would be no reason for MBR to fill in off shifts for a host on vacation.

A few months back MBR announced she would be doing a static beauty show on Thursday evenings on Q2. That didn't last long at all, a couple of weeks, and then Elise Ivey was in that slot hosting the beauty show and MBR was on super early mornings.

The hosts have to be at Q 3 hours in advance of a show.  If MBR is on air at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., that means she's at the studio at 3:00 or 4 a.m.  That certainly doesn't seem like a prime timeslot to me.  For a long time, seasoned and veteran host, all this seems like a downgrade.  Much like Jill being shoved over to Q2 at 10:00 at night for her YHJ shows.  It seems like seniority doesn't matter anymore at QVC and in fact I have to wonder if some aren't being nudged towards the door.

As for the snarky comments, it was an observation that the OP is allowed to make.  Why are any of you concerned with what the OP is concerned with?

I'm not certain if it still is, but I think that hosting a TSV introduction was considered an achievement for a host and a sign of confidence from management, both on Q and HSN.

Back then, of course, the TSV really was special and I thinkers viewers waited with some anticipation for the debut.

That being said, they still haven't "allowed" any of the newest group to debut a TSV yet  have they?  I think their shifts generally don't start until 1 or 2 am, depending upon when the TSV host signs off.

One can ony speculate as to why Mary Beth is suddenly doing TSVs again, and there's nothing wrong with that speculation.

All that speculation...maybe Mary Beth requested earlier hours so that she has the afternoons off to meet other demands in daily life.    I am happy to see her anytime of the day. One of the few hosts that really describes products well and doesn't talk all the time about her personal life!!!

Kicking off the TSV has always been a vote of confidence and "you know you've made it" from QVC.  Of the last two batches of hosts brought on, only Courtney Khodabi has kicked off a TSV, and that was just last week.  She even stated she was nervous about it beforehand.

I think this is all part of the changes the Q is making.  Even this morning Marybeth was on at 7AM with a new show - Mornings with Marybeth.  Like moving Jill's YHJ show to Q2 and moving some of the long time hosts over to Q2, they seem to be shaking things up.

I guess if they want to keep their job, especially the old-timers like Marybeth and Jane, they will work different hours than they have or continually screech Fri-Yay during their shows.

I have a feeling things are not as they once were at the Q. I think the hosts do pretty much what they are told and do not negotiate perks like they may have in the past.

By senior, we mean she's been there a long time. She has seniority.

I caught a few moments of that show and I wondered too!  I only watch late at night, so I haven't seen her in ages.

So, it did cross my mind that it was unusual.  So, it wasn't just you!
