Re: Mackenzie-Childs autumn merchandise

[ Edited ]

Stores with doors usually have better prices than QVC for decor items. There's Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, even Target has cute stuff. I don't need the items to last forever or become a family heirloom - just want some attractive pieces with a nod to the season. Shopping in stores is enjoyable for lots of people & many times QVC shopping becomes frustrating due to shipping, prices changes & customer service issues.
There's a place for both in our lives; depending on individual preferences & accessibility.

Shop on!

Re: Mackenzie-Childs autumn merchandise

@misschristy   I agree, the full price is beyond my comfort level, even if I could, technically, afford it.  I am at the age that I don't really want to spend alot on stuff that is going to go in a dumpster when I die.  However, I have a strategy for MC merchandise.  I put something I like in my wishlist, then when the season is closing, I start looking for either clearance or "as is" pricing on the item I want.  I managed to get one of the holiday ornaments & plaid teakettles last winter for well over half off.  That design just screams
"Christmas" to me, and looks beautiful as holiday decor on my stovetop, it makes me smile every time I look at it.  So, at that price, it was well worth it to me.  Tonight, I put the mocha check cornucopia in my wishlist, I'll see if I can snag it for a huge discount later this fall.  My Mom had a wicker cornucopia basket when I was growing up that she would fill with fruit and nuts as a table's centerpiece.  I don't know what happened to it, it wasn't in the house when I was made executor of the estate and had to sell everything.  I don't know if I want to buy just a basket, or something like the MC piece, but if I can get one on a good discount, I might go for it.

Re: Mackenzie-Childs autumn merchandise

The Mackenzie childs backstory is a sad one if you are not familair with it...google it. Victoria and Richard Mackenzie-Childs are the creators and artists of the original brand. After many bad business decisions and financial difficutlies they were forced into a non compete agreement and are forbidden to use any of THEIR designs for marketing on their new website and in their new business.  These designs are from the creator Victoria Mackenzie-Childs; she and her husband get ZERO from any of these sales from the new companies that acquired the brand.  I refuse to give QVC any of my money for these pieces; as far as I'm concerned they were stolen.

I used to find better prices at ShopHQ. TS were often featured.  Free ship offers also. The items are now made in China vs.Vietnam. I have what I want and although like to look haven't bought any Mackenzie Childs at Q.

I"m not a fan of that line---and especially the high prices---and just don't like the patterns either. Have never watched when that show is on and prob won't.

@debbic @that's pretty much how business works .  Not for the faint of heart.   I think we would all be surprised how many  company's work ,  and the background stories.
