Seems to me it is best not to comment because eating disorders or health issues could be what causes weight gain or loss. I think jeans look awful on skinny people whose thighs don't meet, but I'd surely not say it to the person wearing them because they might think it's a great look.

This has always rubbed me the wrong way! Exclaiming that someone "looks great!" all because she lost weight?? Really? How did they look before? Horrible? I think not. I feel a woman looks beautiful whether she's big or small. It doesn't matter in my book. Grrrr

Unless the person is so close you consider them a brother or sister by a different mother, it is more appropriate to neither mention weight loss or gain.  That is a very personal event in many people's lives- for someone with an acute illness, you really could be putting your foot in it.  for someone with an eating disorder you could be inadvertently setting them off to an exacerbation of a chronic illness, think eating disorder or depression.  it really is so much better to simply express your happiness to see the person and offer them your best smile

Apparently, though, it's okay to post this in a thread in which I said, "One of them had to relay to me how her husband hates when a women's thighs don't meet, while looking at me in jeans. They both mocked me for my thinness in other ways as well."

What a coincidence, @AuntG.

May I suggest that if you surely would not say it to the person wearing them (regardless of whether that person thinks she looks great or not), you refrain from saying it indirectly to me here.

Do I think that I look great? Am I just naturally thin? Am I ill or on medication? Regardless of the answer, it's just rude.

You never really know why weight gain or loss.

I blame my weight gain on retirement and depression because of a loved one.

@OKPrincess

One of the hosts even mentioned that prescribed medication for her rapid heart beat was causing her to gain weight and she was going to have a procedure done that would eliminate the need for this medication.  I dont know if she had it done and/or the outcome.

@Spurt- She had the procedure and all was well.

Hi @hyacinth003....Carolyn G. had that ablation done a few months ago to zap out (laser) the irreguarity in her heart rhythm.  You may remember there was a thread about it....

@suzyQ3- I was wondering if that was a coincidence too.   Sorry that comment was made.  Not very considerate.

@San Antonio Gal, I'm a big believer in coincidence but not this time. What are the odds that a poster would mention the thigh reference out of the blue?

I had the cryo-oblation in 2014 and it changed my life.  My a-fib is gone and I don't worry about it anymore.   There are 2 types....one uses heat and one uses frozen cold.  I had the frozen one.
