Yeah, and her whipped Argan Oil claims are misleading too. It comes across like they somehow just whipped up pure Argan Oil and it makes a butter. There's a bunch of chemicals added to turn it into butter.
That's the one that bothers me the most because we keep seeing people on the forums and in reviews say they're upset that they ordered the body butter and there are more ingredients in there than just argan oil.
Honestly, I think a reasonable person should know that you cannot whip up most oils, put them into a jar, and have them stay whipped up on the shelf of throughout use without adding other ingredients because oil just doesn't work that way. Even my coconut oil liquefied in my kitchen in the summer. It obviously needs stabilizers and other ingredients to prevent it from reverting back to liquid form. But she always says it's "pure argan oil, whipped up," and that makes it sound like that's all it is and that's not accurate.
She should phrase it differently to be clear.

She should correctly state that the body butter is argan oil whipped up with other key ingredients. She just wants to romantizize the whole thing. But I am surprised QVC sent that letter out. I mean, her claims are not that outrageous after all. I really think she's in line with all the other beauty vendors and their claims and their "before and afters", which I put no stock in. Moisturize your face and of course it'll look better. Just don't have them squinting and grimacing so much in the before picture only to have the most flaccid relaxed expression in the after! That trick is so old yet so widely used to this day by so many brands.

well I haven't seen a letter yet. I've tried the milk and don't find that it does much for me but then again, everyone is different. I do use her argan oil and the one with SPF in it and that works fine for me.

@Alison Wonderland, if you stop and think about it, you can come to that conclusion. I think about the homemade whipping cream I make that if not used soon enough goes back to liquid.
But Josie certainly does make it seem like her body butter is just whipped up oil and she should have to be more clear because there obviously a lot of people who don't stop to think that's not possible or they don't understand.
I really wish they would stop her from talking about pertrolatum and how her products don't have it and it's from car engines. That's not true either. Not saying it's a great ingredient but there is cosmetic grade petrolatum and it isn't gunk from car engines.

I have not read through all the posts here, but want to say that in years past I have received these same letters regarding other vendors on QVC.
One in particular was Victoria Principal.
So, really, this letter is not something brand new.

People don't think anything of spewing alternate facts on TV, it's done everyday, about everything. If you like JM and her products you won't care if she lies about her products or not. The Beekman Boys spew that nonsense about petrolatum too and the doctor should know better.

I too have wondered how JM gets away with saying these things on air, such as petroleum jelly being "literally the gunk around an oil rig". Seriously??

I wonder if it was Josie who made the on-air unsubstantiated claim, or one of her three substitute reps, or even an over-zealous QVC host.
I have heard the hosts say some wild, over-stretching claims, and the vendor rep has to just stand there and smile so the host isn't corrected on-air (which is considered extremely taboo for live TV protocol).
When QVC takes calls from an OVERZEALOUS customer and they start to make outrageous or medical claims I'm happy to hear the HONEST and CREDIBLE vendors speak up and say ..... we make no medical claims or results about our product!!! But you are right, sadly some hosts and vendors will say anything and everything to sell a product....just like that Dyson vendor and the run time that was disingenuous...
@Spurt , the battery organizer that was the TSV on HSN I think the other night saved a call-in customer's life.
Was it the same caller who called into QVC and was actually crying because it saved her life as well. I was like what???
I purchased the organizer, because I have an older version of it that I like, but the story was a bit much for me to go with.

@SandySparkles Argan oil has been made and sold for decades before Josie came along. Josie just made it popular and markets it well. I still get my pure, 100% organic, cold-pressed, only 1 ingredient argan oil online from Shea-Terra. I've been using argan oil well before Josie came along, even well before I started watching QVC 15 years ago.
Argan oil has been used for centuries in just the same way that Josie talks about it -- in other countries.
Another thing to listen to -- when Josie says the NY Times calls it liquid gold. Josie holds up her bottle when she says it, so it implies the NY Times was specifically talking about her product. No, I read that article, and it was all pure argan oil that the NY Times calls liquid gold. But of course, she never makes that distinction.
I do LOVE Josie's argan body butter though!
Thank you for this information! It certainly confirms what I was thinking, but I had no idea it has been around that long. Although I understand creative marketing strategies, I am underwhelmed by some of the outrageous claims made my some vendors of the beauty industry these days. It really is disheartening when you think about it. I too, enjoy her body butter.
