@sunshine45 Thank you very much for sharing the letter. Very
I wonder if it was Josie who made the on-air unsubstantiated claim, or one of her three substitute reps, or even an over-zealous QVC host.
I have heard the hosts say some wild, over-stretching claims, and the vendor rep has to just stand there and smile so the host isn't corrected on-air (which is considered extremely taboo for live TV protocol).

@Caaareful Shopper I have heard hosts corrected on air. Just yesterday on HSN the Bearpaw host incorrectly stated the sizes available in that model. I see nothing wrong with that. And if a host does make a medical claim, the vendor should be free to say "we can't make medical claims for our proudct" just like the hosts do when customers call in. I'm always appreciative when a host or vendor mentions things the customer needs to be aware of. Sunday on ITKWD, they were selling the Corvino wine thing that you can pour wine without opening the bottle. David at one point made a statement that this was only to be used with real corks.
Also, I remember once Shawn was presenting the DynaTrap. She obviously didn't understand the device and didn't do her homework on it. She made a comment about having it on the table right there where people were gathered and the vendor made a point to say it's really better used away from where people congregate since the bugs it's attracting might go for the people before getting trapped by the device.

I use them because they work well on my skin, not because she is making some ridiculous statements, which I see through immediately. Sometimes she sounds so silly, which just makes me shake my head. However, I still like much of her line, so it's up to me to determine what works and what doesn't. I know she's not selling any miracle product, but she is selling what my skin loves.
@nyc1: I totally agree. I only use her products not because of what she says but because they work for me. My dermatologist even commented on how my skin does not look anything like it should for my age so I am sticking with her line as it is the only one that actually shows results on me. Tried so many other high end lines and they were either returned or ended up in the trash.

@Vivian wrote:Many years ago, a charlatan made a claim that the junk she was selling would allow asthmatics to stop taking their medicine. I contacted QVC immediately to explain the danger this statement could create. It was the first and last appearance of the hawker. QVC does not want to be responsible for promoting false claims.
QVC has had several lawsuits regarding product claims....so vendors need to heed what they claim very carefully....

@Icegoddess I totally agree with you, corrections should indeed be made on-air, right at the time they are mentioned. I'm just referring to what the normal TV protocol has been. I'm glad those old norms appear to be waning.
But for every good example of hosts being corrected, there are 10X as many examples of vendors and hosts apologizing profusely for making a correction, or not apologizing at all, and merely saying the correct statement or claim later in the presentation. I've seen at numerous times.

When QVC takes calls from an OVERZEALOUS customer and they start to make outrageous or medical claims I'm happy to hear the HONEST and CREDIBLE vendors speak up and say ..... we make no medical claims or results about our product!!! But you are right, sadly some hosts and vendors will say anything and everything to sell a product....just like that Dyson vendor and the run time that was disingenuous...

I use Josie's products and am very pleased with all of them. I even use the Argan oil and balm on my dog's "boo-boo's with the vet's approval. IMO no make up or skin care product can work for every body for every issue. They all promise "some thing"...Perhaps if the presentations times were shorter then the host and the guest would not have to babble on trying to fill the time. I think this is the problem. She should have a card from her lab to read the specifics. Problem solved.

@Spurt , the battery organizer that was the TSV on HSN I think the other night saved a call-in customer's life.

Oops, I guess the battery organizer was a QVC TSV since there's a thread about it on the forums. We always check the TSV's before I go to bed at night so it's easy to get them confused.
