I ordered 3 Sport Savvy French Terry Hooded Jackets (A-203480) ~ one in each color. Though there was no warning online when looking at the product detail, I was surprised to find warnings on each of the three pack slips that came with the jackets (though purchased at the same time, each arrived in separate packages). The pack slips read as follows:

WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS LEAD, A CHEMICAL KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS OR OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HARM. DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO MOUTH OR CHEW.

My youngest is "14" so he won't be chewing on my jackets any time soon, but I do have pets and a young grandchild. My guess is that the lead is in the paint on the wooden buttons, but I don't like the idea of wearing clothing that contains lead, no matter where it is. Also, just in case I ever draped one of the jackets over a chair, I know my kitties well enough to know that they'd probably nibble on a button at some point or another. When I called CS, the gal I spoke with said refunding my return shipping, "usually isn't done, but that they'd make an exception in this case." Usually? Are lead warnings on clothing items a "usual" thing?

I suppose I could've purchased replacement buttons and sewn them on, but as I said, I'm only guessing the buttons are the problem. Maybe the lead was somewhere else. I'm waiting for my refunds to post but all three jackets were returned. I feel the warning should've been clearly stated in the product description as I would definitely NOT have purchased the jackets had I known about this issue. I think California's laws are stricter than those in other states, so perhaps these warnings won't even appear on pack slips if the jackets are sent elsewhere.

I tried to post a review for the jackets but received a letter that my review had been denied. Has anyone else gotten warnings on their clothing items? I recommend everyone read their pack slips carefully going forward. Sheesh! I thought getting a few jackets on "clearance" would be an easy, worry-free process. Definitely not a great example of Quality, Value or Convenience!
