Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND CELEBRATION, CLEANSING, CAMERAS, AND SHARKS!

Not to worry, my friend, by the time Dear Tom's career winds down and he and Supermodel ride off into the sunset, I'll have found some other player to admire... Or perhaps I won't. Either way, we'll see what unfolds with the Aboriginals and how they play their cards... Honestly, I'm somewhat a captive audience so it's hard not to at least have a passing knowledge of what they're up to! As for The Third and his statue, well, when you find that barf bag supply, please send me one express delivery...

Yes, I'll be skipping their jaw dropping product of the month, even should dear moms unleash it in Pantone's color of the year... I won't even be stocking my gift wing with it, because quite frankly, I'm fed up with it, the Q and am boycotting not only morethanablender but rutabaga, turnip and onion smoothies altogether! Take that moms!

As for the vacuum hunt, well I am simply appalled at DS's attitude! I mean really, moms works her fingers to the bone to bring us the very best selection possible and THIS is the thanks she gets!? Shocking. Simply shocking... Kidding aside, so far so good on my little Shark, though I do sometimes wish I'd have simply purchased the lessor expensive (than today's TSV) upright, although my model does provide significant versatility and good suction.

And to be sure, when selecting a college town in which to reside, it probably pays to be picky! Hey at least in your case they tear up Dallas rather than College Station... and while I'd in no case designate Austin as purely a college town or as a smaller city, it's quite a nice town... Unfortunately, I have no desire to be that far south or that warm! Unlike most, I think I'd actually prefer to be somewhere cooler rather than warmer!

Actually the Red River Showdown is between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.....College Station is where Texas A&M is located....didn't want get Longhorn fans angry....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}.

It will be interesting to see how my Redskins fair this season.....and what happens with the QB situation. And let me know who you have your eye on as you search for Tommy's eventual replacement......

But yes Austin is a very nice city known for its fine restaurants and good music....and the Congress Ave bats.....Yes it's very warm around here although both my city and Austin and the Hill Country are not as humid as H Town.....And as I get older the more and more I HATE summer, and love love love cool and cold weather but neither do I want to experience snow shoveling or below zero temperatures (where one of my brothers lives)......and even they get humidity....so what if the temperatures are in the upper 70's or mid 80's when the humidity is 100% you STILL can't escape that oppressiveness!---Sorry you are also experiencing hot weather in the 90's, but just think your cool temperatures should roll in shortly...while we have a way to go and we are about 6 degrees above normal for this time of year....although the inaccurate weather forecasters continue to predict rain and slightly cooler weather here which never comes....

Went with my DS and a friend to Best Buy yesterday---my DS was furious because her very expensive smart phone is already broken with less than a year of service---and both are always complaining about the lack of carrier coverage I was shocked to hear what they were paying monthly.....meanwhile my cheapy phone with no contract required, gets excellent coverage....I can but don't use it to connect to the internet, and as I previously said I don't want to be connected 24/7 to the internet....although my DS said she uses her smart phone as her office since her job requires traveling throughout the city and entering data for her reports.....although she spends a heck of a lot of time taking photos, facebooking, playing games and keeping in touch with her NY Giants.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} But she expressed her displeasure to the Samsung technician about what a piece of qwap this expensive phone is.....I wonder if that poor girl quit after taking care of DS {#emotions_dlg.laugh}.....my friend just wanted an upgrade for her phone since it was her renewal---while they transferred their data to their new phones, I meandered over to vacuums and studied the Shark Navigator, it seems to better built over my Eureka with it's so called snap on parts that don't stay snapped very well---but this Shark model was a bit heavy....and I know I can get better prices elsewhere......oh well in the meantime I guess I will live with what I got.....

As an observation all I can say is all these phone companies have a nice racket going---you upgrade and need to get a new charger, a new case to protect the phone (since they change things with their newest models---how special for them)...add in their outrageous monthly rates and it's almost criminal!!!!- and then I do have the last laugh at having more cash to spend than wasting it on a the latest and greatest fancy smart phone---to each his own I guess it's where you want to spend your money----I prefer HG, Hobby Lobby, Pier 1, BBW, Dillards, Macy's, Barnes and Noble.....or online retailers {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

As far and moms and her Vitamix--how many drive by customers is she going to lure in---will there be animal print, Pantone Color Of The Year choices, or rhinestones added....I mean every regular Q customer that has wanted one, surely has bought one by now with its repetitive airing....{#emotions_dlg.glare}

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND CELEBRATION, CLEANSING, CAMERAS, AND SHARKS!

Sorry for the mix-up. At some level I knew the Longhorns hail from Austin yet for some reason College Station stuck in my mind...

Very toasty here today... humid and now it's raining and storming, making it imperative to be indoors but of course, television is a joke... But we've been down that road before and so I guess it doesn't help to moan, but it is... and the Q tonight, well, I won't even go there since I do believe THAT man wraps up the day... I wish had faith that cooler temps will roll in soon, but you never know around here. I remember running around in shorts and tee shirts last year the week before Christmas... Our weather is a very mixed bag and fall can sometimes get more or less lost in the shuffle between this muck and winter, assuming we have a winter, which some years we do, like last year, and some years we don't, like the several years before. No, I'm not a fan of subzero temps, but I do like cold weather and I do like reasonable amounts of snow, so I'll take real winter if it means sending summer packing... And yes, I think most of the country experiences humidity, and yea, I dislike heat and humidity too...

Poor DS... my new Smarphone is also a Samsung and while I am also not overly impressed with the coverage, I don't blame that on the phone but on the carrier... Like you though, my now obsolete flip phone, more times than not, seemed to get an adequate signal... And sometimes I think about purchasing a cheapy phone to hook up to another account I have but don't use. Honestly, I really don't need or want a phone to do all the things my Android does. It's truly wasted on me! But then I think all this 3G... 4G... latest model Android or iphone nonsense, is just that: nonsense... and no, I don't want to be connected everywhere I go either! And truly, it is a racket, perpetuated by all those that simply MUST have the latest gadgets, you know, so they can walk into walls with glazed eyes, but never miss a text... Whatever...

As for moms and her product of the month, well, I feel about the same way about THAT as I do about television, the Q's programming and Smarphones... It's WAY more than I'd ever use and yes, heaven only knows that if I'd wanted one I certainly have had every opportunity to order one by now...

Hey Stevie....well as far as college I'm not familiar with all the rivalries and big games for your area at all......

My DS has issues with BOTH the phone manufacturer AND her carrier....but sadly her employer discount has to be designated to a specific carrier, Sprint, otherwise she'd be paying even more a month.....YIKES! I upgraded from my old flip and slightly upgraded my phone, but I just don't want to pay big bucks just so I can keep up to date with silly videos and games so I can walk into walls and fall down escalators etc etc and also have bragging rights with family, friends, and co-workers as having the latest of Alexander Graham Bell's invention....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Reminds me of when I was a kid and we would brag about who had the latest Barbie accessories or clothes or best bike......{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

As far as weather---it's unpredictable here too.......Thanksgiving I might be wearing long sleeved tops, sometimes even a sweater, and one time it was especially warm and I wore shorts.....ya never know.....Now in December we get Blue Northers from Canada it can be cool/cold warms up and cools down... ....I don't mind snow here---flurries or even snow is a RARE treat and kinda fun ---just don't be on the road where only displaced Yankees can drive in it....{#emotions_dlg.laugh} We get ice storms and sometimes its a rainy cold winter.....Sometimes it seems like no "winter" at all....{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown} Last year we had an actual winter .... well winter for us anyway....

Stevie don't get me started on television programming---the regular channels are just dismal---it sees to be nothing but talent contests, or other survivor contests, reality shows or unfunny sitcoms (JMHO).....And the cable channels that were once staples for me-HGTV, The Food Network, A&E (they used to have good mysteries), Hallmark, AMC, Discover, History Channel, TV Land and Me TV have gone down the drain too.........And I HATE those reality shows with a passion---no Duck Dynasty, K-Dash, Duggers, Little People, Bridezillas or Dance Moms for me---{#emotions_dlg.glare} PBS series and PBS Classic Channel called Create sometimes has something watchable on...I do like Castle and DWTS (guilty pleasure), and perhaps Turner Classic Movies might have a good movie occasionally but it seems sports (NFL/Spurs) and an occasional college football game comprise a large part of my TV watching these days---all those channels and so little worthwhile programming---hey that sounds similar to QVC/HSN .....{#emotions_dlg.laugh} Perhaps moms gets her ideas from the other TV programming after all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND CELEBRATION, CLEANSING, CAMERAS, AND SHARKS!

well I hope everyone watched YOUR HOME WITH JILL.....another "spectacular" show (being sarcastic)...from QVC's life style "expert" so the Q says....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

"the marm" showed her usual stellar objects---poopourri, sheets, a blanket, my pillow, Cheryl's cookies, a BL harvest display--which she tore samples out of magazines and told the decor team to "make this", and CI pumpkins, hydrangea wreath or garland--she chose these pieces since SHE likes hydrangeas.....{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Sorry marm but I saw better and nicer at Hobby Lobby....Another once enjoyable show as grown predictable and repetitive ..... {#emotions_dlg.glare}

Ahhhhh... television. Nothing, just nothing worthwhile, and the say thing is there probably won't be much improvement when the 'new season' starts... And yes, game and reality shows and shows highlighting utterly tacky people (and families...) have pretty much completely taken over the airwaves. I can't believe people are actually duped into thinking this slop is entertainment... And don't get me started on cell phones... The thread over in another forum makes for fascinating reading, as the aficionados debate the advantages of upgrading to the latest and greatest iphone... You know, just so they can go through the whole thing again in another few months... And the lunacy of people lining up outside a store to be among the first to get a new phone... Come on now. When did we, as a society, get so whacked...? I guess it's a different strokes kind of thing. And hey, if some folks want to walk into traffic while they're talking, checking mail, texting or posting to FB that's completely up to them, but when they rudely walk into or hold up the works for others because they can't 'put it away' for five minutes, well, that's when it gets to be a problem!

Wink

DING DING DING DING.... BIG NEWS!

WOW, now that's shocking...

KDenn, you win the prize for unearthing this rather startling tidbit of, uh, corporate... news!!

To quote Mike George (aka Mikie): "Under her leadership, we've deepened our customer relationships and significantly expanded our ecommerce, mobile, and social platforms.

Deepened their customer relationships... Really...? I'd say that's getting pretty deep all right... But oh my yes, they've expanded their social platforms, as if that's a good thing... For heaven's sake, the first ten minutes of some shows are spent discussing FB rather than products...

Curious, I'd say, that there's no mention of a 'next step' for moms... Makes one wonder whose choice this was...

I'd love to think that things couldn't get worse, but watch this space because gosh only knows who they might bring in and what their agenda might be...

Toodles moms... and as has been said before, don't let that screen door nip ya... On a serious note, though, while I don't personally like the direction the Q has taken during her tenure, there's really no reason to do anything but wish her well...
