I don't view it as a measure of 'professional' or 'unprofessional' and while it seems to have become overdone, it doesn't really bother me. I do sometimes wonder though, whether anyone 'in charge' ever takes a step back and views videotapes of the hosts, no doubt 'performing' as they've been directed to do. If they haven't they should and if they did, they might just understand some of the feedback tendered on these boards about how cloying and annoying presentations and host behaviors have become.

When Dennis Basso is receiving and giving his "kisses" ... I just turn away from the TV for a few seconds, then resume watching.

Stevie, they do review the tapes and keep a library of every show. They cross reference the shows to actual sales numbers. Plus they revisit a "successful" show and factor in the returns and the cancellations. It is all about the numbers. If the sales volume peaks during a presentation, why of course they are going to try to dissect it and repeat it. Much to some forum member's dismay. Poster here are on the fringe of QVC's customers. It's nice they keep our playground here for us. Smiley Tongue

I absolutely think it's the stupidest thing. Especially during the flu season when the hosts come to work sick like they all seem to do. Some of them can't even talk they are so ill and they are blowing air kisses at anyone that comes within 5 feet of them.

Lisa's ""European twice kiss"" and her ""good seeing you"" makes me want to vomit! She is so full of herself!

I'll add further that part of my job is to meet with vendors for things that I purchase as part of my job. I've never kissed one of them and I know a lot of them for years. I pick these people up at the front desk, shake their hands and lead them to a conference room so we can discuss business. When we are done, we shake hands again and I escort them to the front desk so they can badge out and sign out. It would never occur to me to kiss them. All I can say is working at QVC must be like working in a weird and twisted place. A little universe unto itself. I guess in their own little world the hosts are the equivilent of Hollywood stars, but to an outsider looking in, it just looks weird.

It just looks fake and ackward for the vendor and host. I guess the hosts are trying to look like they're great friends with the vendors. Just like some will say ""my good friend"" when introducing a vendor. I personally could care less if they are friends or not. It's not going to sway me to buy or not buy an item.
