@Helena16 wrote:I also just sent my two cents on the firing of Dan and Carolyn. Both are way too classy to file lawsuit for age discrimination, which is too bad because QVC deserves to be dragged through litigation for such blatant ageism.
We don't need to put an 'ism' to everything!
We have NO idea what the reasons were. The Head Stylist that was let go was YOUNG.
I am sure some of the other 400 employees were young as well.
The last time Q had a large host layoff...the majority were YOUNG (Gabrielle, Stacy etc)
I totally disagree it is blatant anything. We do NOT know. Maybe their sales were down, maybe their contracts were up...maybe, maybe, maybe.

Corporations are notorious for announcing large layoffs to simply boost their stock prices. But many folks may have their jobs eliminated, but they get moved into other positions. QVC may have announced 400 but the actual number that will end up losing their jobs could be very different.

Cheer up! I am sure when D and C were right go they received an excellent termination package.

My bet it's going to be Sandra Bennet who replaces Carolyn. I saw her with Gary.
Saw JRT coming up close to the camera about her kids. What a spectacle she made of herself. Makes her hosting look all phony!

Those 400 employees are gone, not shuffled about internally.
Qurate took a $24 million quarterly restructuring charge related specifically to severance for the 400. That's the cost of compensation and benefits provided in exit packages.
The annual benefit of the 400 headcount reduction will be $60 million!! That's a substantial, significant savings to Qurate.
Those people are gone (from Qurate.)

I don't think they want feedback about this.

I recently submitted "Feedback". Not about the 400 headcount reduction, because that is done and nothing will reverse it.
My "Feedback" was about several recent on-air incidents that I found disturbing, both involving current hosts.
Nothing, of course, will transpire, but it is cathartic to write one of these "Feedback" sessions.

Proving age discrimination in a court of law is exceptionally difficult, not to mention costly in terms of legal fees. People have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars paying attorneys in wrongful dismissal cases, only to lose.
And if they need to sign a non-litigation clause in their separation agreements they can do nothing if they want the benefit package.
The hosts will move on. Perhaps posters too (my opinion.)
