What an ugly comment about a total stranger, a Host, on a shopping channel. Someone who has zero affect on your life.

If Jane is proud of her family, good for her. Always nice to have your family proud of you, even if, sometimes, you may not always deserve it.

Comments like this say zero about the Host, never mind the Daughter, but, boy, they sure give you an impression of the poster!

Either you didn't understand my meaning or you're deliberately trying to twist my words. Try again to read and comprehend what I said. And you should understand that on the internet, people will say what they think, whether it's polite or not. Being the object of criticism can hurt but that's how life in the public sphere IS; and if it bothers you a lot, you may want to re-think your career goals.

Jane comes in for a lot of criticism on these boards and it doesn't seem to bother her a bit; she just yammers on and cashes her paycheck. Wink

Oh like yesterday when you told a poster on viewpoints she is "brain dead?"

Anyway OP this home-shopping-channel host is a stranger, her daughter a MINOR I'm guessing, so I'm just not going to cast aspersions on something that doesn't affect me one iota.

I agree and I clicked on "Report Inappropriate" on KathyPet's nasty comment, but clearly the WEBBIE thinks it's perfectly fine, since it hasn't disappeared. (Sometimes makes me wonder if they have their own agendas!)

I'm certain that the posters who make these sarcastic comments anonymously wouldn't have the guts to say it to a person's face. Just cowards.

I think the whole thread should be deleted. We should not be disparaging a child's accomplishments, no matter what you think of the parent (however mistaken your perceptions may be, as they're based on not even a vestige of reality). Taking a potshot at a child is really pathetic. Not "clever", not "witty", just pathetic.

Maybe her daughter was chosen for a mentor for disadvantaged kids. That's what I think A role model for kids. Anyway the posts should be deleted.

Peggy,

That is a pretty harsh allegation.

I need :

Some proof beyond your simple damming words

Some further understanding of this award from an official site

It's not that I don't believe you, but in the internet world, it is far too easy to repeat hurtful rumors -- that may or may not be true -- that leave permanent damage, that never disappears.

You are accountable for your post.

If you were accused of this, you would hope that someone challenge your allegation.

If you have done your homework and your implications are true, it is something to consider.

The downside of the internet is that people can post hurtful words, maintain their anonymity, and not be held accountable for it. Always an upside and downside to everything. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

My bad, I read only the first response then posted my above response. Upon further reading, I saw Peggy explained her side more and took accountability on her original post.

But, what I said above is still true for many.

Sounds like something that is their business, not mine. More power to them.

This is a child who has access to the internet that may read this post. She's probaby over the moon about getting accepted into this program and I would hate to think that she could potentially read any of this stuff. We need to encourage kids not knock them down.

Prepare yourself for criticism. However I do assume she has had some difficulties related to being the child of a semi-celebrity. Kids find reasons to bully their peers, even the nicest ones.
