Is this "community forum" supposed to be an upgrade?

If it is, it is the dumbest idea I've seen since Coke decided to change their formula.

I cannot believe the stuff I have read here.  I think I started posting in 2005, so I have 10 years of observationl.

"Post is gone due to being too controversial."

"Post gone due to could be perceived as insulting another poster."

"Post gone due to mentioning religion."

"Post gone due to being political."

Sure, it's your board QVC.  This has become ridiculous like a lot of the politically correct thought police out there today.  Reminds me of descriptions of Pravda in the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

I could get used to the new format as to design.  But grown adults being babysat and having to parse words makes it just not worth much.

I think for the most part, we should leave it to the usual group of posters that all agree.

You don't have to be so careful in lots of places.  But you do have to be careful here now.  It doesn't bother me because I think polite conversation is far undervalued now.  Maybe we can relearn.

I don't like who I had become on this board, looking honestly at myself.  Many of my posts were nasty in response to nasty.  I'm not like that in "real" life, but had come to feel I had to stand up to a lot of bullies here.  I'd rather have this than that.

Interesting observation... where are they?  A group of posters who all agree about what?   I can't imagine a whole group of posters here agreeing about everything... of course, it depends on the "groups".  Some groups agree on some things and some groups agree on other things, and then sometimes they disagree, which is pretty normal anywhere, in my opinion.

You make a great point!  I am one of the most polite people I know!

Some posters do goad you into nastiness that didn't even enter your mind.

They know who they are and what they intend to do.  Sometimes, you just don't need the aggravation.

My kingdom for the return of the "ignore user" button. That's all I ask.

The rest--the new unnecessarily complicated software, the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood moderation ("unkind" "tone" or my new favorite, "very unkind" as if editorializing was part of the moderator's job), the rise of a new bully clique--I just peace-out and deal.

What makes me sad is not seeing so many posters with whom I used to enjoy chatting.

I'd like to know why some posts are allowed when they clearly violate the standards (perhaps because the viewpoints expressed match those of the moderators). One day a moderator did jump and was helpful by telling us how to find some of the recipe links; I did think that was nice of her.

I haven't decided how I feel about moderators interjecting and inserting themselves into a conversation of forum users. You see this alot on facebook for various companies (Kohl's for example) but it feels (to me--just me, not looking for a fight so holster the nukes everyone) intrusive. When we ask them a direct question in a specific post addressed to them, that's a good thing, otherwise I'm not feeling it. But then, their idea of "community" is simply different than mine.

I've even wondered if they are actually people based in the United States. The company I work for has people based in India, but we give them pretend names like "Kevin" and "Ashley" because testing has shown that customers gravitate to names like that.
