Here's a thought ...  Most of us on these boards are established QVC purchasers.  Some purchase more than others, but most of us check out QVCs website or view products live.  We have each created our own habit.  With extended free shipping for new customers, QVC (I'm guessing) is hoping to create a habit for new customers to look and see what QVC offers when they had not even considered QVC in the past.

@shy bobcat  That's the issue. Welcome the new and pi*s off the established customers. Where does that leave Q or better yet....us?

Re: IN MY OPINION

[ Edited ]

I have been with the Q a long time, the same with HSN and Evine. The shipping costs are part of the gig. I have been know to add $50 or more to a spending spree in shipping charges and guess what they all come in the same box. Would I like free shipping? Sure but I am not going to get my panties in a bunch over it.

@Shanus    This morning after she gave the new customer spiel, Carolyn advised old customers they'd get a hug so there you go.  Your special incentive is a virtual hug from QVC.  Happy now?

@Shanus   @shy bobcat    They apparently haven't learned that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

@KKJ Yes, this morning after Carolyn gave the spiel about extended free shipping for new customers, she said, “And old customers, here is a virtual hug - we love you, too”. I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself.

for me.....

i choose to fight the big battles

this is not a big one for me

yes, it's a stupid thing.......but it's not the first nor will it be the last stupid thing

i saw and experienced so much of this type of stupid.   many times it was yet another one of many new vp's they brought in trying to get justification for their lame self with some rediculous idea.    looking at their job history i could easily predict their success and tenure with us.  all talk and no value they don't last long anywhere and have to move on within a couple years.

I doubt QVC will change this policy now that it's in effect...I bet they got THOUSANDS of new first time customers if the ONE show I saw with David, a few hours long, and he ended with 4700 new customers.

If that was a three hour show , thats about 1560 new customers per hour or 38000 per day.

Two days of the weekend that's 76000 new first time shoppers.

If each spends 75.00 thats 2.9 million dollars in sales .

QVC goes to 20,000 homes on cable, streams also, you tube shows...think of the exposure!

Somehow I don't think what several hundred posters here harumphing about is going to make a bit of difference.

I could be wrong. But QVC learned when they wanted to shut down these boards.

People still shopped on QVC and HSN.

That's ALL they really care about.

These boards are just a lot of hoo ha and a place to get customers TO the website, where presumeably they will shop and BUY!!!!

@Othereeeen

I know that I have heard several hosts say over the years that QVC is in about 100 million homes. Which makes more sense, because when you think about TSV's when they are selling huge numbers they are definitely more than 20,000.

Not trying to be snarky, just FYI.

I agree with your post by the way. I am sure that they were trying to reach out to possibly get more revenue and reach more customers, during the critical holiday period.

The last few TSV's that I have purchased have had free shipping, so no loss on my part.

I rarely purchase multiples of items, so the shipping costs are not a significant factor in my purchasing decision.

You have several people that will stop shopping on the principal of the matter and that is their right.

Then you will have people like myself, that are long time QVC customers, that really just don't care enough and will continue to shop if they so desire and that's my right and others as well.

I agree.  QVC managed to make me angry often. I stay because of Denim & Company.
