many if us have received used items sold as new, not wait list and not as is. I purchased many items as is, that is why I know the difference in packaging. Of my. 5 Roma's, 3 were new, 2 were clearly returns...and not in wait list. Anyway, wait list items are not supposed to be used. The sales pitch is that the manufacturer will send in more new items. If they can't get more they should mark them as sold out.

If you really want to avoid returns, order only new merchandise the day it is presented. Never order as is and never go on waitlist.

The problem is new merchandise isn't presented very often any more! And, because they've clearly moved away from maintaining stock, a lot of it sells out quickly... so wait list might be the only option. Besides, I've gotten some great things from as-is. All that said, I guess I'm not always that picky. If an item supposedly coming to me as new arrives in pristine condition, even it it isn't wrapped as I might assume a new item would or should be, then usually, I have no complaints. Clearly, if an item arrives damaged, dirty, clearly worn, whatever, then no, I wouldn't be a happy camper.

Yes, I knew my post would more than likely generate a few snide comments. That's OK. I just find it sad that a company that used to be so different and that you could depend on for great merchandise at good prices has fallen so far. In the past few months I have received a watch with a silicone band that had someone else's sweat/dirt all in the crevices on the inside (so gross), a handbag that was obviously used, and now a rather expensive cuff bracelet that appears to have been bent to fit someone else's wrist, leaving it a misshapened mess. Now you cannot convince me that these items were inspected by anyone. And even worse if they were because they were sent out for a full-price purchase. I understand that returns have to be resold. I have no problem with that as long as they are in new, unused condition. If they appear to be used then put them in the "as is" category. Seems like a simple thing to avoid the ill will of your loyal customers.

Hi cinebee---

You are definitely NOT alone in your experience or thinking. There have been many customers posting about about receiving something USED (sometimes QVC has a habit of calling something "new" when they just change an item number, or it's "new this month" which someone could have ordered and returned.)

Also there was a thread called "cheese in your pocket" explaining how QVC changed their warehousing. And I think this warehouse change has caused many of the problems---sometimes it's caused by the manufacturer being responsible for the shipping. I know I have had problems with orders that I never had in the past.

At least HSN includes a comment about customer retention in their financial reports and keeping their customer engaged, while QVC does not, they seemed to be focused on expanding their international markets.

Absolutely! Inspect your returns, Q and then place them in the proper category to be sold!

I understand that with volume sales, issues will arise, but it seems they are more plentiful than ever before and that QVC isn't addressing them and that is truly inexcusable.

I, too find myself buying less and less from QVC. Interesting note: I was looking for a free-standing kitchen cabinet since I'm in the process of renovating. I did find I liked on the Q for $355.00. It was just what I was looking for and was about to bu it when I thought to check out overstock.com first. I know they have good deals because I recently purchased two living room chairs and a couch for a fantastic price which included tax AND shipping. I looked under "kitchen cabinets" and found the EXACT SAME CABINET - color, style, everything the exact same - except for the price which was $150 LESS than QVC's. Moreover, QVC was going to charge nearly $58 for shipping and with tax on top of that the price differential was over $ 200.00! Unbelievable, right?? I really do recommend overstock.com that you consider checking out the site.

Years ago I stopped using Overstock due to the fact that I had a debit issue that came up after I purchased something through Overstock. Someone with their company used my debit card for a purchase somewhere else. The bank caught the problem and issued me another debit card. I wasn't the first person that Overstock did this to. Needless to say, I don't shop with them.

I don't usually read the forums but I did today and I'm shocked at the mean spirited replies.....most of them start with a "if you feel that way don't shop there, no need to make a big deal about it...you were simply stating your disappointment with QVC and you may not shop there anymore. These nasty comments are silly since the forum is "The Q Did What!" They're asking what customers what they're doing wrong. don't

No more outrageous shipping fees, no more used sold as new, no more sloppy packaging, no more unneeded purchases because of high pressure sales, the pleasure of buying merchandise in B&M stores where you can actually see and try items, purchasing from the plethora of other online sellers. Q was bought out by Liberty Interactive several years ago, they are debtors to a mergers and acquisitions company, check the Secretary of State site. They are expanding to France next year, to add to theit Italian, German and UK sites, but also have a shopping channel in China, where the government is a 51% owner. QVC is just a name now, that is why it has gone downhill. It is not just a giant corporation , it is a multinational corporation, owned by another giant corporation.

But you still post here.

Keep raising the shipping charges for quality service. That's about the 3rd mistake this year on shipment.
